I work as a web developer for GORGES in Ithaca, NY, primarily with PHP and Ruby on Rails.

In an earlier phase of life, I earned a PhD in modern German history from SUNY Buffalo. My focus was on Nazi Germany, and especially attitudes toward Poland and "the East" in the context of colonialism. I've also taught college courses on 20th century Europe, the world wars, and the Holocaust.

After many years of using Stack Overflow to answer programming questions, I finally noticed that there is a "history" stack exchange, and that I have more to say here than over on Stack Overflow.
