Workday today announced a three year €175 million investment and 200 specialised roles to establish its #AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Dublin. For many people in Ireland, AI is still very much a buzzword. It is often talked about as a future concept, with this lingering idea of ‘when AI happens’ rather than realising it’s already here, quietly shaping daily life around us. There’s also a certain level of fear surrounding the topic with the unknown and uncertainty of what this evolving technology means for our small island. However, 91% of Irish organizations now use AI, up from 49% last year. This puts Ireland ahead of many EU counterparts after previously trailing behind. Our strong digital infrastructure, skilled workforce, and thriving tech sector mean we’re not just waiting for AI to arrive, we’re already part of its story. The Trinity Business School report reveals: • AI could add €250 billion to Ireland's GDP by 2035 • An additional €60 billion is possible with the right policies • Per capita GNI could rise to €160,000 with optimal AI adoption The foundations are in place, now it’s about steering this change in a way that works for Ireland. The question isn't if AI will transform Ireland's economy, but who will lead the charge.
