Halloween has grown up. For the third year, our Adultoween research has explored how adults experience the season. This year, for the first time, US and Canada are joined by UK and Australia in exploring the global phenomenon of Adultoween. With Halloween become a much-anticipated season, what stands out is less about the date itself and more about what it means to people: nostalgia, quality time with friends and family, and low-key, stay-at-home oriented celebrations in the spirit of a season that starts earlier every year. At Ferrero, listening to people is how we understand the moments that matter the most, embracing cultural traditions and the evolving role of celebrations and moments of enjoyment. Why does traceability matter when it comes to tackling deforestation and carbon emissions across cocoa supply chains? Knowing where our ingredients come from is fundamental to our sourcing approach. Through supply chain traceability, due diligence and collaboration with suppliers and partners, we can identify and address deforestation risks. New analysis by Global Witness explores the relationship between deforestation-free cocoa sourcing and carbon emissions, and highlights the importance of greater transparency across the chocolate industry. The research recognizes Ferrero’s progress in cocoa traceability and highlights the transparency of our public reporting, including 98% deforestation-free cocoa and disclosure of cocoa-related emissions intensity. Our commitment to traceability and no deforestation is also why we support the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and its aim to establish a harmonised framework for addressing deforestation linked to global supply chains. "Your ability to learn and to apply what you have learned is what really matters." Most CVs prove the first half of that sentence, but far fewer prove the second. For Michael, what makes a company want to keep someone is less the list of things they have learned than the evidence that the learning changed how they work. A course, a tool, a piece of feedback: none of it really registers until it shows up in the next project. It is also the part that survives a change of role, of team or of market. How can innovation help turn waste into valuable resources? At the 6th annual Sustainability Week Europe, hosted by Economist Enterprise in Amsterdam, Mario Abreu, Ferrero's Group Vice-President Sustainability, joined the panel “From wasted to wonderful: new tech for a circular economy” to discuss the role of technology, innovation and collaboration in advancing circularity. “Technology is a powerful catalyst for circularity. It is opening new possibilities to design smarter, recover more materials and turn waste into valuable resources. By combining innovation with collaboration across the value chain, we can accelerate these solutions and bring circularity to scale.” At Ferrero, this approach is reflected in our work on packaging ecodesign, material innovation and improved recycling technologies, including our involvement in initiatives such as HolyGrail 2030, which explores digital watermarking technologies to improve waste sorting. Advancing circularity requires more than technology alone. It calls for collaboration across the value chain to develop solutions that can work at scale.
