Create Projects

Maker projects in K-12 are hands-on, meaningful, creative ways to teach in any subject. They help students connect with academic content, provide experience with professional technologies, and promote 21st century skills. Our project resources include: project tutorials featuring starter projects with step-by-step instructions; ispiration from classrooms around the globe in the Idea Gallery; our proven process for desiging and leading creative, engaging, academic Maker projects - our Maker Methodology.

Project Tutorials

‍Step-by-step guides to Maker projects where the technical process is spelled out, but the student expression is not. Choose one based on the students’ readiness, the tools and materials available, and the time frame. Use these projects to get familiar with carrying out Maker projects in the classroom, without having to invent a new one.

Idea Gallery

Projects from K-12 Makerspaces around the world, adaptable for many subjects and grade levels. Browse the gallery for inspiration, or filter by object (what students will make) or tool (what students will use).

STEM Projects

STEM projects are Maker projects’ cousins. Both trade lectures for hands-on building. In both, students learn by failing, iterating, and get excited to be in school.
