Campground FAQs
Is the campground open year round?
Yes! The campground is open year round. However, the summer season is very busy and we recommend making reservations in advance.
How far in advance can I make a reservation?
Reservations can be made a year in advance of the day of your arrival.
Do you provide shuttles to the park for campground guests?
Yes! Based on host availability, we are able to shuttle campers during the summer season from the campground store to the Visitor Information Center from the hours of 9 am to 5 pm daily.
Do you allow dogs?
The campground is pet-friendly. We do ask that all dogs remain on leashes and that you do your duty after your pet does theirs. A dog park is located at the campground and is available for use to Kentucky Horse Park campground guests, horse show competitors, and park guests.

The 157th running of the $1.25 million Travers Stakes takes place at Saratoga Race Course today! We’re remembering Point Given, the 2001 Travers Stakes winner. PG also won the 2001 Belmont and Preakness Stakes, was named Horse of the Year and Champion Three-Year-Old, and was inducted into the National Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in 2010. He passed away in 2023 after spending his retirement years at the Kentucky Horse Park, where he made plenty of great memories with all who visited him! 🐴💙

Exciting news from the KHP Campground! Out with boring letters, in with the legends! We are officially renaming our campground loops from standard letters (A, B, C, D) to honor some of our most beloved equine residents. The next time you book your stay with us, you won`t just be picking a spot, you`ll be staying on a loop named after Kentucky Horse Park royalty!
🏆 Accelerate Loop
Named in honor of Accelerate, current resident of the Hall of Champions! The 2018 Breeders’ Cup Classic Champion earned an incredible $6.69 million in career earnings during his racing career.
🚔 Billy (O’Brien) Loop
Honoring Billy (O’Brien), a 24-year-old Gypsy Vanner donated to the park in 2011. Billy began his park journey as a breed representative in the Breeds Barn, helped with Youth Riding Camp and Mustang Troop in the Education Barn, then served as Mounted Police horse. Known for both riding and driving, he has been a fan favorite in countless parades and special events.
🐴 Conner Loop
Remembering Conner, who arrived as a 2-year-old in 2012 to train for the Horse Drawn Tour Division. Over 13 years of service, this gentle giant provided trolley rides for thousands of visitors, represented the Belgian Draft Breed, and captured hearts with his immense size and calm nature before passing away earlier this year.
🐎 Dodger Loop
Celebrating Dodger, one of the original Bureau of Land Management Mustangs adopted to help start the Mustang Troop. Over 20 wonderful years of living and serving at the Park, he played a vital role in the Mustang Troop program and left a lasting impression on every camper he worked with.
