The Chief Executive Officer commands the employees of the company, and he has also the power of employing or firing them. He can also make financial decisions, i.e. paying by company money.
He reports to the Board of Directors, in short "board". The Board is the group of owners of the company, or of their representative(s), with the power to employ or fire the CEO. The CEO can be also a member of the Board.
The task of the CEO is to fulfill the expectations of the Board. Generally that means the maximization of the financial results.
