I just tried the Beta version of the "Questions" page, and have the following reactions. Items #1noticed a fairly straightforward bug with keyboard navigation and #2 are clearly bugs, the remainder are more subjective reactions:scrolling.
I use keyboard navigation a lot, but the up arrow, down arrow, page up and page down keys are initially broken -- I can't use them to scroll down in the list of questions.
I think the problem here is that you have two separate scrolling panels -- the question panel and that other panel thing on the left. Because I need to use large fonts, the other panel also gets a scrollbar, and so Firefox doesn't know which one to scroll.
Please don't break such basic keyboard navigation features. For those of us who have multiple accessibility issues it's important for them to work in a standard way.
The alignment of questions in the "Newest Questions" panel is completely broken.
I would expect the title and text of the questions to be vertically aligned on their left border, but they are not, they are all inconsistently positioned. This leaves the panel very visually noisy and hard to parse.
Also regarding keyboard navigation, it looks like you have removed our current reputation score from the top line. This doesn't seem important, but it afforded a fairly quick, backdoor way to access out inboxes via keyboard navigation:
- Type the first few characters of the score, with "Search for text when you start typing" enabled (in Firefox).
- Hit "escape" to cancel searching.
- Tab to the inbox.
If you're going to remove this trick please introduce some other way to quickly access the inbox via keyboard navigation.
I can't even hazard a guess as to what that Q*bert-looking icon in the upper right is supposed to mean:
Even after clicking on it I still can't guess. Maybe you need to give the drop-down menu a title, or implement a tooltip.
Having quick links to other communities is a good thing. However it's my impression that most question that get closed as "off topic" for belonging elsewhere on the network actually should have been asked at Super User -- so I'd add a link to that community.
Finally, here'sI use keyboard navigation a screen shot oflot, but the "Questions" page as it appeared on my Firefoxup arrow, withdown arrow, page up and page down keys are initially broken -- I can't use them to scroll down in the list of questions.
