I tried to flag this spam deleted question to ask for the poster to be deleted as well (as the account seems to have been created for the purpose of spamming only). Unfortunately, when I click "Flag", I get an error popup saying "Unable to load popup - please try again" (I've tried multiple times since it was deleted over 3 hours ago).

Screenshot of the question with the "Unable to load popup - please try again" popup

In the browser console, I see an error 500 on GET https://stackoverflow.com/error. This is preceded by a GET request to https://stackoverflow.com/flags/posts/79753190/popup?loadedTimestamp=1756809654730&_=1756809654626 which receives a 302 to /error.

This could be a duplicate of Flag pop-up does not work in deleted question, except on the question linked there, I can open the flag popup.

It might be specific to this question, as I also tried other spam deleted questions, and there the popup opens just fine as well.

Specifically:

I'm using Firefox 142 on Windows 11.

As this seems to be specific to my user account, as an additional data point, I didn't immediately realise it was spam, so I voted to close (asking for recommendations) before flagging as spam.

  • Does the error show when you click "Flag"? Because I can click it and get the regular flag dialog, same browser, same OS. Commented Sep 2, 2025 at 11:46
  • @cafce25 Yes, it happens when I click flag. That suggests it might be something with my session and/or user profile in combination with that question. Commented Sep 2, 2025 at 11:47
  • I cleared my cookies and site data, and tried again, and it still fails. Commented Sep 2, 2025 at 11:50
  • I now recall that I voted to close before flagging as spam; could be related to the problem. Commented Sep 2, 2025 at 11:57

I reported a similar issue in "Unable to load flag dialog popup on some deleted questions". I am, now however, unable to duplicate the issue on either of the questions I linked in that question, nor on the question linked here. It's unclear to me if the issue is just sporadic, or if it has been resolved. At least for the questions I linked in my MSE question linked above, the issue persisted for at least the ten days prior to me posting that question, along with at least one day after that.
