I'm trying to remember a film I watched when I was young (around 2013-14). I can only remember a few details, those being:
- It was a 2D animation, with a sort of hand-drawn style
- The protagonist was a young(ish) boy
- It was set in a huge forest
- The protagonist had lived there his whole life
- It was some kind of fantasy setting
- There was a young girl in the forest, might have been a forest spirit?
- There was a scene where they both climb to the top of a massive tree, and the boy is scared of heights and won't open his eyes, and the girl says "I'll tell you my name if you open your eyes and look around"
- The girl was called Ashley
- There was a scene later on where she was holding something up (a door?) and she's overtaken by darkness and it falls
- I think it was American, or at least the characters had American accents, but I'm not certain on that
