You code as usual.
A cat makes reports for you.
Toffee sits on your desktop and writes your dev diary while you code with AI.

Questions, answered
Which AI coding agents does it work with?
Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Codex and OpenCode, with Windsurf (now Devin Desktop) in beta. Connect them in one click. Each AI session is logged the moment it ends, with no change to how you work.
Can I use local models for the summaries?
Yes. Point it at Ollama or LM Studio running on your machine and your summaries and reports never leave your computer. Prefer the cloud? Bring your own key for Groq, Claude, OpenAI or DeepSeek. AI is optional and stays off until you turn it on.
Can I export reports as video for social media?
Yes. Turn any day or week into a flex card and export it as an image or a video, in square (1:1) for feeds or vertical (9:16) for reels and stories. Ready to share in seconds.
Is my data really private?
Yes. Everything lives in a local database on your machine and nothing is uploaded by default. The capture service only listens on localhost. The only data that ever leaves is what you choose to send to a cloud AI provider, and even that you can keep fully local with Ollama or LM Studio.
How do I update the app?
From inside the app. When a new version is out you see an update banner. One click downloads it, verifies it and restarts into the new version. No reinstalling, no app store.
Does it track my Git commits?
Yes. It reads your local Git history and weaves your commits into the same timeline as your AI sessions, so every entry and report shows what you actually shipped, not just what you talked about.
Does it work across projects, agents and models?
Yes. Everything lands in one diary. It creates a project per repository and brings entries from every agent and model, across all your projects, into one timeline with per-entry metrics like model, agent, tokens and duration. One place for everything you build.
Where is my data stored, and can I back it up or move machines?
It is all local, in one folder in your OS app-data dir: Windows %APPDATA%\day.mydev.cat\, macOS ~/Library/Application Support/day.mydev.cat/, Linux ~/.local/share/day.mydev.cat/. That folder holds the whole diary: diary.db (a SQLite file), an images/ folder and config.json. To back up or move to a new machine, just copy it across. Nothing leaves your computer, and the optional AI summaries can run fully local via Ollama or LM Studio.
