OUR MISSION
The Trust for the National Mall is the leading nonprofit, nonpartisan, privately funded philanthropic partner of the National Park Service, dedicated to restoring, enriching, and preserving the National Mall – America’s Front Yard – and President’s Park, including the White House grounds.
The partnership between the Trust for the National Mall and the National Park Service represents public-private partnership at its best and helps bring to life the National Mall and the history of our nation for 36 million visitors each year — now and for future generations.

We strive to ensure the National Mall remains as a place that inspires pride in all people, honors all Americans, is accessible to all, and celebrates our nation’s identity.
We help keep the National Mall vibrant, welcoming, and inspiring for everyone. By raising private and in-kind support, and mobilizing volunteers, we restore historic spaces, create meaningful learning experiences, and connect people to the stories that shape our nation.
OUR APPROACH
Restoration and Beautification – The Trust brings its own expertise as well as access to notable architects, engineers, landscape designers and contractors to help expedite select priority projects of the National Park Service divisions overseeing the care and maintenance of the National Mall and the White House. We design and deliver modern and resilient solutions, protect the parks’ natural resources, upgrade visitor amenities. By mobilizing private support, including in-kind donations, we are able to deliver state-of-the-art results in design and construction management for these treasured American spaces.
Public Awareness & Education – The Trust’s educational programming for visitors, including the National Mall Gateway, is dedicated to inspiring visitors to connect to history, patriotism and the historic purpose and significance of the National Mall. The Trust also works to educate the public and stakeholders to bring attention to the needs of the National Mall and the need for public and private support to preserve, restore and enrich this iconic landscape. The Trust convenes thought leaders, key stakeholders and government officials to build critical support to help propel National Park Service priority initiatives on the National Mall.
Volunteer and Community Engagement - The Trust organizes year around opportunities for individuals, organizations and companies to participate in service projects and other volunteer opportunities to support our partners at the National Park Service. Two current programs include Volunteers in Parks (VIP Program) and Mall Hands On Deck Days of Service for corporations or organizations. The Trust supports these popular programs in collaboration with NPS for the VIP Program — providing recruitment services, trainings, volunteer management, development of materials and support for supplies.

The Trust for the National Mall is the only nonprofit philanthropic organization dedicated to preserving and elevating the entirety of the National Mall and the White House gardens and grounds. With 36 million annual visits, the National Mall is one of the most visited parks in the world. In partnership with the National Park Service, the Trust has invested more than $113 million in private support to date and helped advocate for additional federal funds for important restoration and maintenance projects, including the Great American Outdoors Act.
Over $1 billion is needed to support the National Mall, the Trust has embarked on an unprecedented partnership with the National Park Service to raise the funding and awareness.
