About

Cordillera Cordillera Mountain Range in the rain through a car window, Pangasinan, Philippines

I actually was a spectator of this website as early as November 2018, but I never got around to making an account. This time (07-30-2019) though, I have made one.

"Two plus two is four. Minus one that's three. Quick maths." – Michael "Big Shaq" Dapaah (2017)

Trying to post a question at least once a month every three six months. I have never been able to make puzzles within a short period of time.

My conventions for my cryptic crosswords/clues, which one shall keep in mind unless stated otherwise:

  • The existence of words, definitions and abbreviations will always be affirmed by at least one of the following dictionaries: Merriam-Webster, Collins, Chambers, and Wiktionary. However, if a word is in popular culture but not in the dictionaries, then its existence will be affirmed by Wikipedia.
  • Entries will use American spelling.
  • An &lit is a clue whose whole is both definition and wordplay at the same time. If there is no exclamation point at the end of the clue (e.g. "... bin? (5)"), then you can be sure that it is not an &lit. However, the converse is not necessarily true; that is, a clue with an exclamation point at the end (e.g. "... bin! (5)") may or may not be an &lit.
  • I follow enumerations quite strictly. For example, expect that a clue enumerated "(5)" will not have WALL-E as the answer, which must be enumerated "(4-1)".
  • A cryptic definition is an answer's definition stated in an unconventional or witty way, so that the solver needs to think outside the box to find what the definition refers to. In my crosswords, I never include a clue composed solely of a cryptic definition. If I do include a cryptic definition, it will also be accompanied by a normal, conventional definition, or wordplay.
  • Any answers which are normally spelled with diacritics will be spelled in the wordplay and crossword without any diacritics, so for example the ship La Niña will be clued as LA NINA. This also counts for Øresund, which will be clued as ORESUND. Answers with ligatures are spelled in the wordplay and crossword with the letters in the ligature separated; for example, Færder will be clued FAERDER.
