I just ordered some new Stickers for my old Rubik's Cube. But now, halfway through the re-stickering process, I worry that I might have already messed this up and will end up with a non-solvable cube!

Here are my efforts so far:

Is it too late already? Or can you find a way to put the remaining stickers back on?

Note: The colour scheme of this cube is not necessarily standard. All we know is that the six colours are red, grey, yellow, green, blue and purple in some order. In the picture, there are three missing stickers around the central corner, indicated by the dark grey sides.

    $\begingroup$ The light grey is the white in standard rubik's cube colours, purple is orange and the black spaces are the yet unstickered surfaces? And the final cube should have the opposing sides white-yellow, green-blue and red-orange/purple? $\endgroup$ Commented 16 hours ago

  • $\begingroup$ LOL, actually had this happen IRL. Kid at school said he couldn’t solve his cube. I went to solve it for him... then had to hand it back with “someone rearranged the stickers on your cube.” IIRC he said he had, but I wasn’t going to pull the stickers off some kid’s cube, so... so sad. $\endgroup$ Commented 3 hours ago

The first step is to find the other faces of the cube. We know where Red, Green, and Blue are, because we can see their centers.

Yellow shares an edge with Green and Blue, so it must be opposite Red. Two different corners have Blue-Yellow and White-Yellow, so there cannot be a Blue-White-Yellow corner; White is opposite Blue, and Purple is opposite Green.

Notably, the Red-White, White-Yellow, and Yellow-Blue corners all have hidden Purple stickers, so the visible Purple sticker is a Purple-Red-Blue corner. This exhausts the Red corners, so the unknown Blue corner is Blue-Green-Yellow in clockwise order. Furthermore, we can see all four Green edges, and one of them must be the Green-White edge, so all four White edges are known. Therefore, the unknown Yellow edge is Yellow-Purple!
