We use RDP to connect to our Windows Server 2022 Domain Controller. RDP connections fail after 5-6 successful connections. The next connection will show a black screen before displaying error “the connection with the remote computer was lost”.

It gives the error:

“An error occurred when transitioning from CsrConnected in response to EVCsrInitialized (Error Code 0x8007000C)“

And this error on the domain controller:

“An error occurred when transitioning from CsrConnected in response to EVCsrInitialized (Error Code 0x80070102),”

The problem is temporarily fixed by restarting the controller. There are no hung sessions. I’ve run chkdsk /f and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Restarting RDS does not resolve the issue. Once RD fails, no one on the domain can use rdp, including localhost.

  • Developement on a Domain Controller?!? Commented Nov 6 at 18:31
  • Maybe development is the wrong word, we have a vLAN for a cybersecurity class, so I (and some other kids) have domain admin for “real world” experience. Commented Nov 6 at 18:37
  • This error can be caused by security policies (see f.e. here: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1403696/…); since you mentioned you are using it for a cybersecurity class, maybe this could be your case. Commented Nov 6 at 19:54
