Marcus Lee, CFA reposted thisMarcus Lee, CFA reposted thisIt was great to participate in the Thailand Global Investment Workshop in Bangkok, co-hosted by Institutional Investor and the Government Pension Fund of Thailand. In a market environment that’s increasingly complex, the conversation centered on geopolitics, AI and what portfolio resilience can look like when the range of outcomes feels wider than usual. Prashant Singh shared his perspectives on Emerging Market Debt, walking through how shifting global dynamics, currency movements and evolving risks are shaping opportunities across EM. Thank you, Prashant, for the thoughtful discussion and we look forward to continuing the conversation.

Marcus Lee, CFA reposted thisMarcus Lee, CFA reposted thisFunds managed by Neuberger Private Markets served as co-lead investor alongside Apollo Global Management, Inc. in a $780 million continuation vehicle extending Abry Partners’ partnership with Centauri Health Solutions, Inc, a healthcare technology platform serving health plans and insurers across Medicare Advantage and Medicaid. Since Abry Partners' 2020 acquisition, Centauri's payer business has tripled revenue and more than quadrupled of EBITDA, with consistent double-digit organic growth throughout. Serving more than 60 million members across nearly all leading U.S. health insurance payers, the company has evolved into a mission-critical platform for payer technology and data intelligence. Proceeds are expected to support Centauri's continued organic and inorganic growth strategy as a pure-play payer technology platform. Reflecting on the transaction, Ethan Falkove, Managing Director, Neuberger Private Markets, shared, "Centauri is exactly the type of asset we look for — a high-quality, market-leading platform with mission-critical solutions, durable customer relationships, and a compelling opportunity ahead. Centauri has built something exceptional, and we look forward to supporting their continued success with this partnership." Marcus Lee, CFA reposted thisMarcus Lee, CFA reposted thisNeuberger is pleased to announce an agreement with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC Group) to establish a joint venture that will act as a general partner in Japan, establishing and managing Japan-focused private debt funds that primarily invest in leveraged buyout senior loans. The first initiative of its kind in Japan, uniting a leading Japanese bank and an independent global investment manager with uniquely complementary credentials. This partnership brings together SMBC Group's deep origination capabilities as a leading LBO lender and Neuberger's private markets expertise dating back to 1987, with the support of Neuberger's Private Debt team. "As Japan's buyout market expands, a more diversified lender base will deepen the market and strengthen the stability of capital provision," said Ryo Ohira, Managing Director and Head of Neuberger East Asia. "Through our partnership with SMBC, we aim to deliver capital that balances swift decision-making with prudent risk management, ultimately contributing to the competitiveness and vitality of the Japanese economy." Marcus Lee, CFA reposted thisMarcus Lee, CFA reposted thisPrivate equity secondaries have moved from niche to necessary. With $240 billion in transaction volume in 2025, GP-led deals now close to half of all secondary activity, and private markets NAV nearly double what it was in 2019 — the headroom for growth remains significant. But the more important question for asset allocators isn't whether to have secondaries exposure — it's how to participate, and when. In this latest piece with AsianInvestor, Victor Ko, Managing Director, explores: ● Why the structural tailwinds underpinning this market are durable — not cyclical ● Why the current environment may represent an unusually attractive entry point ● Why in a market this complex, manager selection is not a secondary consideration – it is a primary one. While much of the focus has been on increasingly powerful foundation models, the next chapter may be shaped by agentic AI and the real-world infrastructure required to support its widespread adoption. In a recent interview with MONEY FM 89.3, Y T Boon, Head of Thematic-Asia, discussed the infrastructure constraints common to both the U.S. and China—and why bottlenecks across semiconductors, power generation, grid modernization, and data centers could become some of the most important themes for investors to watch. Marcus Lee, CFA liked thisMarcus Lee, CFA liked thisWhat if "indexing" wasn't just about tracking markets, but about expanding choice? Had a great session with our IFA partners recently, introducing the new indices for AIA Singapore's new Indexed Universal Life offering. The conversation wasn't about predicting markets. It was about giving clients more ways to participate in them. Three new indices. Two built on the strength and innovation of the S&P 500. One built around a diversified multi-asset approach. Different designs. Different risk-return characteristics. One common objective: More choice. More flexibility. More relevance for clients navigating an increasingly uncertain investment landscape. Always energising to engage with advisors who challenge assumptions and keep the focus where it belongs: helping clients achieve better outcomes. #Investment #IUL #FinancialAdvisers #AssetAllocation #AIASingapore Shirley Lee Kelvin Kua Wendy Lim Choon Siong L. Where should this jacket go? 🧐 I was testing out how my Jensen-signed leather jacket looks next to the window displays at Sotheby’s Landmark Chater in HK! But with "Jensanity" and tech pride running deepest in Taiwan, I’m facing a dilemma on the best auction venue ... With recent market turbulence and panic sell-offs in tech, is a signed Jensen jacket the ultimate safe-haven asset? 😅 Jokes aside, I truly believe the structural thesis of the global AI build-out remains unstoppable. That’s why I’m going ahead with auctioning the jacket—with 100% of the proceeds dedicated to funding university AI research! So, where does it belong? HK luxury stage or Taiwan tech epicenter? Marcus Lee, CFA liked thisMarcus Lee, CFA liked thisPromotion season is always fascinating to watch. Every so often, I notice the warmer smiles, the generous compliments, the sudden eagerness to be seen. Perhaps it has always been there, but during promotion season it simply becomes more obvious. I'll admit, I've never been comfortable with that kind of behavior. Not because ambition is wrong—ambition is healthy—but because admiration that appears only when influence is involved rarely feels genuine. Years ago, someone shared an analogy that has stayed with me. That story of the Defence Attache and the analogy of the Ceramic vs Styrofoam cup. And how we only deserved the Styrofoam cup. That Ceramic cup my dear boy, is just because of what people perceive you are the gatekeeper of. Reflecting on that, some people do treat others like ceramic cups. They handle them with care because they perceive value. Others are treated like Styrofoam cups—useful for the moment, disposable once they've served their purpose. I've seen both. I've also seen how quickly some ceramic cups become Styrofoam cups when titles change, influence fades, or someone is no longer seen as useful. Relationships that once felt warm suddenly become distant. Respect becomes conditional. Then again, perhaps this is simply human nature. Organizations create incentives, and people respond to those incentives in different ways. The question I find myself asking is not whether others behave this way. It is whether, knowingly or unknowingly, I encourage it. Have I rewarded the wrong behaviors? Have I mistaken deference for competence? Have I made it harder for people to speak honestly? Those are uncomfortable questions, but they are probably the ones that matter most. The longer I work, the more convinced I become that good leadership is not strengthened by surrounding ourselves with agreeable people. It is strengthened by surrounding ourselves with authentic people—those who are willing to challenge our thinking, disagree respectfully, and tell us what we need to hear despite it being difficult instead of what we want to hear. And willing to go the extra mile to work with you on solutions, rather than just pinpointing problems. Perhaps that lesson extends beyond our workplaces. Whether we lead a team, an organization, or even a country, I realize that leadership becomes fragile when it is insulated by flattery and protected by yes-men. Progress rarely comes from echo chambers. It comes from leaders who welcome honest counsel and from people who have the courage to give it. Titles come and go. Influence comes and goes. Character is what remains. #Leadership #Governance #Authenticity #OrganizationalCulture #Character #Trust #LeadershipLessons

Key question: how to view the recent tech sell-off? “Ghost” stories have driven market volatility but there are no "ghosts" in fundamentals. Alphabet’s +82% Q2 cloud growth and raised $200bn capex proves AI momentum is accelerating. Market correction is a healthy self-regulation: * Unhindered Capex: Price hikes are not impacting critical AI infrastructure. * Locked-in ROI: Google’s $514bn cloud backlog means hyperscalers are delivering growth. * Limited Oversupply Risk: Bottlenecks prevent overcapacity for the next 3-4 years. Amazing energy presenting alongside Bryant Loh and Rachel Tan. Onward! 📈

With supply starting to wane, and some decent NAV discounts to be had in public markets, its only natural to ask : What value do REITS add to a portfolio? My colleague Tianchen Peng has shown that when thinking in terms of macro regimes, REITs are an efficient growth engine and portfolio diversifier except in high growth, high inflation scenarios. This is from data going back almost three decades, and with three climactic recessions to boot. Efficient frontiers, better than 1000 words, illustrate the point.
