How to deal with a collaborator writing a note that makes no sense? 70 pages?!! Not just no, hell no. |

Can I add "padding" not relevant to the review to reach the minimum required word count? For scaling purposes, you've spent 213 words grumbling about it in this question. How much real effort is it to find a few more words for your evaluation? |

How to prevent AI usage on play-by-post RPGs (or incentivize human-made text) I so strongly doubt that you can be "reasonably certain" about AI provenance in this setting (as opposed to academia or legal filings where false citations can still be an issue) that I am compelled to downvote an otherwise good answer. |

Making my case in proposing a reputable journal in which to publish The title of the post is a bit awkward, but I'm not sure of your intent so I don't want to edit. Would it be better phrased as, "Making my case in proposing a reputable journal in which to publish"? (Even then there's a disconnect between talking about journals to publish in, and doing the heavy lifting to improve the paper enough to do that.) |

Loss of Interest in Research That strikes me as unusual, and possibly a disservice to you. But I don't have the experience of being a long time advisor with experience across multiple institutions, so maybe I am wrong. |

Interrupted Research Meetings Many (but certainly not all) faculty at my institution had little white boards on their office doors where they could write "Do not disturb" if they wanted to augment the closed door itself. Assumes meetings are happening in an office, rather than, say, an open lab. |

How do I ask my PI to be a co-author on a side project they didn’t supervise much (without harming the relationship)? Assuming the PI/supervisor is your advisor, then I think an additional frame challenge is: You should be able to go to that person for advice about publishing and authorships and whatnot, even though they're not (and probably shouldn't be) on the author list. But you're at the stage you can and should start to navigate these issues with minimal support. |

How to deal with a player who wants to run away? I would have led with "seven year old players" not "they're not playing how I want them to." |

How do I determine a cone's area of effect on the map when it is orientated at an angle to the map? It was perfectly clear in the first version. |

How to determine if I have enough background for Ph.D. research? When to step away? Possibly a wake-up for both student and PI at the same time. If the OP is so deep in the weeds that they need help forming a plan to get up to speed or to modify the project to an appropriate level, it is the PI that I would suggest they ask. But in this case, the PI seems unable or unwilling to address that very issue. |

Should I withdraw a paper after acceptance, due to a funding disagreement? @Aruralreader The tricky part would be figuring out how to find the right person. That itself may be the basis for a good answer. |
