Francesc Xavier Gomez-Olive Casas

Associate Professor F. Xavier Gómez-Olivé, PhD. MD. (Medical Epidemiologist, Specialist in Public Health and Preventive Medicine) is the Associate Director and Head of Research at the Agincourt Research Unit, in the School of Public Health of the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.

Prof. Gómez-Olivé has 25 years of experience in population research in rural Africa and has been the Princiapal Investigator and investigator of multiple studies with huge experience in management of surveillance and research management. Gómez-Olivé’s research focuses on the health and well-being of older population, comprising the epidemiology of HIV, non-communicable diseases, multimorbidity, sleep disorders, and the care of older people with multimorbidity in rural Africa.

Gómez-Olivé has supervised Master, PhD, and Post-doctoral students to completion.
