Sara Konrath is the director of the Interdisciplinary Program on Empathy and Altruism Research (www.iPEARlab.org), a research lab with a primary focus on motivations, traits, and behaviors relevant to charitable giving, volunteering, and other prosocial behaviors. Her research has examined changes over time in empathy, narcissism, and adult attachment. Other research examines implications of giving for givers, including happiness and health. She has also designed empathy-building programs for a variety of populations, including youth, nonprofit staff, and physicians. Her work has been published in top scientific journals and has been featured in national and international media outlets.
Konrath is an Associate Professor at Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and an Affiliate Professor at the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan.
