SENATE MILITARY AFFAIRS COMMITTEE WASHDC=

AT A MEETING OF CITIZENS HELD JULY 2, 1940. AT THE UNITARIAN PARISH HOUSE, STATEN ISLAND, THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION WAS DULY MOVED, SECONDED AND UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED.

WHEREAS, BY THE RAPID SUCCESSES OF THE NAZI ARMIES, THE FUTURE PEACE AND PROSPERITY OF THIS COUNTRY IS DEFINITELY THREATENED, AND

WHEREAS, RECENT STATEMNTS OF THE SPOKESMAN OF THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT CLEARLY INDICATE FURTHER MENACES TO THE TRADE, PROPERTY AND RIGHTS OF AMERICAN CITIZENS IN THE FAR EAST, AND

WHEREAS, WE, AS CITIZENS OF THE UNITEDSTATES, ARE CONVINCED THAT TO PRESERVE THE PEACE OF THIS NATION, IT IS IMPERATIVE, WITHOUT DELAY, TO CALL UP, EQUIP AND TRAIN AN ARMY OF SUCH SIZE AND STRENGTH AS TO BE ABLE ADEQUATELY TO PROTECT THIS NATION FROM ALL ITS POTENTIAL ENEMIES FROM WHATEVER DIRECTION AGGRESSION MAY COME,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT WE BELIEVE, THAT THE BEST AND FAIREST WAY TO RAISE SUCH AN ARMY IS BY=
