Letter from the State Department Regarding a Resolution to Amend the Constitution to Disallow Citizenship to “Persons of Asiatic Blood,” 12/13/1920
The letter notes that it would be up to Congress to initiate and support such legislation, but points out that the effect of such a policy would unite Asian countries together against the United States.

No Taxation Without Representation, 11/20/1920
Image description: The lack of representation in Congress was a long-standing issue with citizens of the District of Columbia, particularly when DC citizens paid substantial amounts of federal income taxes. Cartoonist Clifford Berryman relies on his familiar character, Mr. DC, to raise anew the issue of lack of representation. Holding a paper outlining how the District compares with other states in paying income taxes, Mr. DC notes “they called it ‘tyranny’ in 1776.” His paper reads: “D.C. beats 28 states in federal income taxes / Disfranchised Washington paid $8,669,100 in 1918 / A million more than the total of five states / And yet the District is not represented in the tax-levying Congress”
