TaleSpin (Interactive Designs) (Video Game)
Tale Spin is a Interactive Designs video game made for the TurboGrafx-16 and an adaptation of TaleSpin by Creator/Disney. Louie shows Baloo a piece of map formed on a stone relic leading to a golden sky treasure. But the map was fragmented into five fifths and Louie only was able to find one. It takes Baloo walking across four levels to find the remaining five, one in the Watusi River jungle, another that sunk beneath the Great Simeon Reef, another hidden by Shere Khan in a non-specific part of the Aerodrome, and a the fourth fragment hidden by Colonel Spigot in a Thembrian Ice Cave. Once he finds all four pieces, he can use the re-assembled stone map and set course for the sky level Ionia where he can seek out the treasure.

When you complete a level, you get put into the shoes of Kit Cloudkicker to take part in bonus stages where he sky surfs for bonus points. Also before each level, Rebecca sets you up on fetch quests to find a specific amount of a certain item in exchange for an increased score. As Baloo travels on the ground, he can throw small objects at enemies and take them out. He also can jump and attack enemies with his belly to take them out. He also has a life-meter that depletes each time he gets hit. Lose all hit points and Baloo loses a life and all lives lost means a game over. Do you have the neccessities needed to reunite the map pieces and seek out the hidden treasure?

Not to be confused with the Nintendo or Sega versions of the game.

Tropes:

  • 20 Bear Asses: When Baloo heads for the Watusi River to find one of the pieces of the map stone, Rebecca asks him to get 10 feathers from that place.
  • Bonus Stage: After completing a stage, you play as Kit Cloudkicker who would sky surf to collect bonus points.
  • Death Throws: Baloo falls off the screen if he loses a life.
  • Dismantled MacGuffin: The stone relic mapping the treasure is broken into pieces and Louie only has one of them. So it's up to Baloo to find the remainder.
  • Green and Mean: The game features green-skinned jungle natives and are hostile enemies Baloo has to take out.
  • Jungle Japes: The Watusi River is found within a jungle and is one of the places for the stone pieces of the treasure map.
  • Life Meter: The game provides one for Baloo and will deplete from each hit he takes. Once empty, it costs him a life.
  • Living Statue: The guardian of the Watusi River piece turns into a living being before fighting and reverts back upon defeat.
  • Maniac Monkeys: Baloo fights several at the Watusi River as enemies.
  • Scoring Points: Rebecca offers a score bonus as a reward for collecting specific items for her.
  • Super Drowning Skills: If Baloo falls into the river during the first portion, he loses a life. It's less of a problem when he exits the cave where Baloo can wade safely.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: It involves Baloo trying to find pieces of a stone artifact that contains a treasure map from across the world.
  • "X" Marks the Spot: The stone map fragment found in the Watusi River has the X marked on it and it's where the treasure is, but getting this part first will not lead you instantly there, you'd still need the other pieces.
