Have to wonder if one group represents the views of law enforcement while the other is being told by the Governor’s Office to take a particular position

But what do all of the out of state students who vote by absentee do on the day off? Don’t they want to learn and get the most out of their student debt?

Certainly in line w the Democratic M.O. of "energizing the youth" by giving them "free stuff" (an entire day off for their civic duty, which takes 45 mins max.) Want kids to "rally for change?" Give 'em a day off from school.. they'll rally for whatever you tell them to.

What, exactly, is a “DRE test” and how does it definitively establish by how much one is operating under the influence? Doesn’t a drug recognition expert - not a “test” - merely recognize one may be under the influence of something? What if it is a legal substance?

Law enforcement has often been opposed to marijuana legalization. But Manni says he supports it because of the prohibition on home growing, funding for police drug recognition experts (DREs) and license suspension for drivers who refuse DRE test

So you’re telling me that you can release 99 red balloons, start a nuclear war, and it is only considered “one offense” and carries a mere $500 civil penalty?

Interesting new standard from @RISpeaker - will be even more interesting to see every bill that crosses a public polling threshold hit the floor for a vote. Makes one wonder why $50 million in legislative spending is necessary when we’ve shifted to a public referendum system.

.@RISpeaker on why he's allowing a floor vote on the abortion bill even though he personally opposes it: "I am mindful that 70% of the people, in a poll conducted last fall, support the codification of Roe v. Wade into state law." wpri.com/politics/ri-sp…
