    Heading to the doctor or the dentist? You miiiiight want to read all this.😁 Medical Payment Products, like credit cards and payment plans, can help pay for the often-high cost of care. But beware: they may cause more harm than good. Read more tips at nyc.gov/Consumers
    3 things to know BEFORE signing up for a Medical Payment Product: 

Ask for alternative payment options. 

If your health care provider doesn’t accept your insurance, ask your insurance company to recommend one who does. 

Understand “deferred interest”. 

This usually means you are not required to pay interest during a promotional period. However, if you do not pay the full balance in time, you’re on the hook for interest on the original amount what you still owe. 

Carefully read the contract. 

Take time to study the contract and ask your provider any questions.
