Compact, Fast-Inflating Compressor with Reliable Auto Shut-Off
I bought this portable 12V air compressor to keep in the boot for routine pressure checks and roadside emergencies.
It came complete with clear instructions and additional nozzle adaptors for sports balls and inflatables. Build quality feels solid for a lightweight unit; it seems very well built out of durable plastic rather than cheap, thin casing, and it features a braided air hose.
Operating the unit is straightforward and intuitive: you plug it into the 12V cigarette lighter socket—which fits securely with no wobble and maintains a stable power connection—set your target PSI or BAR on the digital backlit display, attach the quick-release nozzle to the valve, and switch it on. The auto-shutoff feature works flawlessly—it inflates quickly to the exact pressure selected and then stops automatically, eliminating any guesswork or risk of over-inflation. The pressure reading appears to be accurate, as the display on the pump matches my car's onboard tyre pressure sensors perfectly.
In terms of performance, it is surprisingly fast and powerful for its size. For routine maintenance, it handles a top-up of around 2 PSI in just over a minute per wheel, which matches what most other reviewers experience. While I haven't needed to inflate a tyre completely from flat, claims of doing 0 to 32 PSI in 5 to 8 minutes seem about right, though realistically it's probably closer to the 8-minute mark. Like most compact compressors, it pumps much faster at lower pressures and naturally slows down a bit as the resistance and tyre pressure increase, but it still copes easily with higher-pressure tasks. The built-in torch light is a thoughtful touch that makes finding the valve stem in the dark much easier. The 12V power cord has plenty of length to reach all four wheels on a standard car, and the unit itself is small enough to tuck neatly into the spare wheel well or side compartment without taking up boot space.
There are only a couple of minor points worth noting. Like almost every 12V tyre pump, it is fairly loud while running, which is completely normal for these compact compressors, though it might draw a bit of attention if you're topping up early in the morning. Additionally, wrapping and stowing the power cable back into its designated storage slot on the casing is a little fiddly compared to how simple the rest of the unit is to use.
Overall, it's a compact, handy, and well-designed bit of kit, that is highly recommended for any motorist.
