Enable the WordPress Agent

You can use the WordPress Agent to create content, generate images, and design your site using artificial intelligence. In this guide, you will learn how to enable the WordPress Agent for your site.

This feature is available on sites with the WordPress.com Personal, Premium, Business, and Commerce plans. For free sites, upgrade your plan to access this feature.

In this video, you’ll learn how to use the WordPress Agent on WordPress.com. It covers turning on AI tools, updating fonts and layouts, and improving your writing. You’ll also see how to generate and edit images in the Media Library.

To enable the WordPress Agent on your site:

1. Visit the AI tools settings.
2. Select a site if prompted.
3. Toggle “Enable WordPress Agent” on.

Enabling the WordPress Agent will install a managed plugin on your site. Visit our AI guidelines to learn more about using AI-generated content.

Once you enable the WordPress Agent, you can use it to manage your sites within your WordPress.com account. You can also send it instructions through email, Telegram, and Slack.

Edit your content

When editing a page or post, open the WordPress Agent by clicking the AI icon (a four-pointed star) in the admin bar at the top of the screen to create or edit content:

For example, ask the WordPress Agent to:

• “Rewrite this to sound more confident.”
• “Rewrite the event details in a more exciting way.”
• “Give me three title options for this page.”

Redesign your site

Open the WordPress Agent in Appearance → Editor to change your site’s design. For example, ask the WordPress Agent to:

• “Make this section feel more modern and spacious.”
• “Change my site colors to be more bright and bold.”
• “Give me more font options that feel clean and professional.”

Create and edit images

Generate images using text descriptions in Media → Library. For example, ask the WordPress Agent to:

• “Generate an image of a croissant for this blog post.”
• “Change the background color of this image to blue.”
• “Design a flat illustration of a laptop and coffee cup for my about page.”

Get general help

Open the Help Center Support Assistant for questions about using WordPress.com. For example:

• “How do I add a contact form?”
• “What’s the difference between pages and posts?”

You can send instructions to the WordPress Agent by email. To enable email access for the WordPress Agent on a site, follow these steps:

1. Visit the AI tools settings.
2. Select a site if prompted.
3. Toggle “Enable WordPress Agent email address” on:

Once enabled, the AI agent’s email address appears below the toggle. The address looks like agent+<unique-string>@post.wordpress.com. You can also find your WordPress Agent email address for each site in the WordPress Agent settings page.

Enabling email access also enables Post by Email. Turning the AI agent email setting off deletes the Post by Email address, so both Post by Email and the AI agent address stop working.

• Add to contacts: Download a contact card (a .vcf file) to save the WordPress Agent’s email address as a contact.
• Regenerate address: Invalidate the current address — for example, if you have shared it by mistake — and replace it with a new one. The previous address stops working immediately.

Send a message to the AI agent email address from any email account. The WordPress Agent acts on the site connected to that address and replies to the email account you sent from. For example, you can:

• Forward an article you want to publish as a draft.
• Send a list of changes to your About page.
• Ask the WordPress Agent to check your site stats.
