The September/October issue of Cigar Aficionado isn’t even off the presses yet, and won’t be on newsstands for weeks, but you can see its top scores now in this preview edition of Cigar Insider. It’s going to be an exciting autumn issue with some excellent smokes. More than half of the 72 cigars that went through our blind tasting process scored 90 points or higher. And the best performer—a 94-point Nicaraguan Churchill—wasn’t anywhere near the most expensive. For the cover story, Captain America actor Anthony Mackie put down his shield and lit up a smoke with managing editor Greg Mottola to discuss his career and love of fine cigars. Associate editor David Clough gives a tour of El Titan de Bronze in Miami, one of the last American factories producing handrolled cigars and a must-read for all cigar lovers. But there are even more ratings of new releases in this Insider, starting with a vertical brand tasting of Rojas Quiet Morning, a Nicaraguan line intended to be the first introspective smoke of the day. We also rated a pair of smokes by Espinosa Cigars: one to celebrate two decades of its 601 Blue Label brand, the other an annual release of Knuckle Sandwich Chef’s Special, made in collaboration with television personality Guy Fieri.
