    Data visualization is essential for telling stories with data in a format that is easy to understand. Nobody really enjoys looking at rows and columns of figures, for instance. But if we turn this information into a graphical representation, say a scatter plot or a bar graph, it’s much easier for people to understand the relationship between the qualities we’re representing and our findings.

    Data visualizations are found in newspapers, business reports, academic studies, and in many other contexts. With data visualizations, we can condense a lot of information into a smaller area and make it accessible. Visualizations also make it easier to see patterns and differences between variables, even when a table of data or the averages may appear very similar.

    Are data visualization skills in demand?

    Yes. An analysis from Lightcast found a clear upward trend in job postings that mention ‘data visualization’ between 2016 and 2021.

    The ability to effectively visualize data is essential for many roles, technical and non-technical, and will only become more important as businesses better utilize data.

    Do I need to know Python to be good at data visualization?
