And why does it surprise you that these two titans of the RPG world left one RPG company to go work for another RPG company?

I'm actually surprised that it took them this long.  It seemed like that corporate noose has been tightening on the IP for some time now.

    DM Running Multiple Games

If a DM is running multiple games, you should place all the games in a single thread. The first post in that thread should contain your general contact information, and then each reply will include the details about a specific game. If you need to update information for any of the games, please edit the relevant post. Do not delete and repost! If a game is older and filled please edit the post to indicate that new information.

posted a message on Take Caution with Paid Game Listings

    Hello Adventurers!

As the LFG listings continue to expand and new DMs enter the arena, a word of caution to all regarding paid game listings (and perhaps free games as well!):

    • Paid games lack purchase protection.  Any transactions users engage in come with inherent risks concerning who they choose to do business with.
    • Perform due diligence when browsing potential games.  Verify a DM's account age, post history, and engagements with others across the community.
    • Set clear boundaries and expectations on the transaction.  Define what is being purchased, when delivery is expected, and the nature of the product/service.

D&D Beyond holds no responsibility for paid user listings of game sessions or the associated transactions - these are at your own risk.  Please exercise caution when engaging in these transactions to better protect yourself from potential confusion, frustration, or other mishap.

May your rolls always be critical,

    Sedge

posted a message on Do WOTC not want feedback from the older members of the gaming community?
    Quote from Jegpeg >>

I am not saying they will not use it for more malicious means knowing age is useful in determining how widespread the survey responders are. Ideally they would like feedback from all of those likely to play one D&D. (So they might be less interested in players over 100 as they are less likely to be playing in 2 years time or whenever oneD&D comes out).  If 40% of responders are over 40 but (from other surveys) WOTC known only 20% of players are over 40 those responses might get less weight than the 10% of responders who are teenagers if WOTC know 25% of players are teenagers.

If a rule gets an overall satisfaction of 75% it looks good but among teenagers that was 40%  that would be an area for concern, especially if teenagers were underrepresented in the survey.

The same thing applies to questions like what versions of D&D people have played people who started with 3e might want different things than people who started with 5e but the survey is not a random sample of all players so they may weight responses appropriately.

I'm curious about how you're quantifying the metrics of a survey you are not running or are formulating results from.

These assumptions you've made are malformed at best, and offensive at worst.

D&D Beyond users must be of at least 13 years of age to use the services.  I have modified the post title accordingly.

Nothing is worse than having ancestors who were called bad names.  The harm my people and I feel even today simply can't be measured.

Lives have been ruined and WotC doesn't even care.  They're just trying to avoid controversy instead of addressing the real issues of systemic oppression.

As long as they do this, we still live in chains.

As a non-D&D focused thread, calling into question the sexuality or inclusion of others (or desired character representation) is not an appropriate thread for these forums.  Please seek an alternative venue for related political discussion.

Asking if you'll be back?  If they killed your character, you're currently not a player at this point.  There's nothing to "come back" to.

Sounds like they're asking if you'd like to join their campaign...  lol

posted a message on Physical Book and DnD Beyond
    Quote from DandDNooob >>

I totally agree with you. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that you can't do that. If i want the same book physically and virtually, I shouldn't have to pay for it twice.

Perhaps if bundled physically and digitally, it would be charged twice as expensive.  In this format, you can pick and choose your medium of preference.

I wouldn't be quick to assume that included digital content = free.  Why would D&D Beyond even be hosted and run if it were just a means of delivering free content for physical book purchases?  Why would not everyone purchase physical over digital, if it meant receiving digital for free?  The entire model that some argue for is not sustainable nor practical.

    Just my 2¢ though.
