GBIF Norway is the Norwegian participant node in the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, GBIF. Our main task is to make primary data on biological diversity from the Norwegian collections and observation databases freely available and to coordinate and support GBIF-related activities and data use in Norway.

Ebbe Nielsen Challenge 2025 winner Nov. 17, 2025 6:56 PM
GBIF Norway Data Manager Rukaya Sarah Johaadien has won the GBIF Ebbe Nielsen Challenge for the second year in a row. The Ebbe Nielsen 2025 1st prize was shared between Rukaya and colleagues from Australia.

Deep-sea data – the Bathysphere 2025 symposium Nov. 7, 2025 3:52 PM
The 3rd Bergen Bathysphere Science Symposium took place this week in Espegrend Marine Biological Station outside Bergen. Bathysphere gathers deep-sea scientists across disciplines, institutions and countries, creating a venue for sharing both knowledge and enthusiasm for the deep-sea.
