What Is Ripcurrent?
IRI Ripcurrent is a real-time change data capture (CDC) module in the IRI Voracity data management platform.
What Does It Do?
After you configure Ripcurrent through a graphical wizard in the IRI Workbench GUI, it will monitor database logs, detect changes, and replicate data into defined table targets.
Ripcurrent identifies inserts, updates, deletes, and schema drift, and can also simultaneously mask PII as the data is refreshed incrementally into new tables -- usually in a lower environment. IRI FieldShield functions are applied immediately to secure pre-classified values according to pre-defined masking rules.
Ripcurrent can also send alerts when changes to data or schema structures are detected. This allows DBAs and other stakeholders to act on new table information much sooner.

How It Works
Ripcurrent uses the Debezium embedded engine to monitor database logs for change events. It parses inserts, updates, deletes, and monitors for structural changes.
Ripcurrent can also trigger pre-defined FieldShield data masking rules to protect selected classes of data in the affected output rows. The masking jobs can be configured in Workbench and executed automatically.

Supported Change Types
- Insert: New rows added to monitored tables
- Update: Modified values in existing rows
- Delete: Removal of rows from source tables
- Alter: Structural changes like added columns (logged only)
Integration with FieldShield
Ripcurrent leverages the data class and rule library in IRI Workbench, and exclusively integrates with FieldShield to apply format-preserving encryption, redaction, pseudonymization, hashing, and other context-aware data masking functions to new or updated row values in the lower environment (test schema). FieldShield functions are applied automatically in response to change events, ensuring consistent protection of sensitive data.
Licensing
Ripcurrent is licensed per host or per monitored database. It is available standalone, bundled with FieldShield, or included in Voracity subscriptions. Subscription and perpetual licensing options are available.
