We're proud to celebrate the ribbon-cutting on our 89,000 SF playground renovation at Geyserville Elementary School — a project rooted in our belief that the spaces where communities gather should be as intentional as they are joyful. Designing for play means designing for delight, discovery, and connection, and we couldn't be happier to see it come to life right in time for the new school year. 🌱 Kindercourt & Castle at Park Side Elementary: The Garden of Growing Things - Now that you've seen the flythrough, let's dig into the design story behind it. For Sebastopol Union School District, Blitz is designing a new 20,350 SF early childhood campus — five buildings and a two-acre garden site organized into two complexes built around how young children actually learn. 🏰 Castle is the preschool and childcare hub, anchored by a shared culinary classroom, preschool and aftercare classrooms, and an intimate outdoor play courtyard. 🎨 Kindercourt is a kindergarten and TK village of seven classrooms wrapped around an 11,800 SF outdoor play landscape. Every detail is scaled for small bodies and curious minds: work surfaces built for hands-on food prep and art, child-height windows that keep nature in constant view, and materials chosen for safety, warmth, and longevity. The concept draws from Sebastopol's agricultural roots — natural materials, indoor-outdoor flow, daylight, and patchwork tile patterns echoing the region's fields and orchards. An environmental graphics program carries that story further, turning doors, walls, and thresholds into wayfinding built from letters, numbers, shapes, and color. The campus doesn't just house learning — it becomes part of the curriculum. This moment has been years in the making. In 2023, Blitz led a Facilities Master Plan Study exploring five paths forward for Park Side's aging campus, from a modular swap to a full reimagining with classrooms, a district office, preschool, and community programming. That community-driven process shaped the project's vision and helped the District bring a bond measure to voters — Measure N, passed in 2024 with Blitz's support. Design is nearing completion, with occupancy anticipated in 2028. 🌻 📷 Renderings: Blitz 📐 Architecture: Blitz 🌱 Landscape Architect: Groundworks Office 📋 Owner's CM: Brailsford & Dunlavey, Inc.

We're thrilled to take you on a tour of our new project for the Sebastopol Union School District! ✦ We're designing a new kindergarten and preschool campus at Parkside Elementary — and we couldn't be more excited about what's taking shape. The concept: The Garden of Growing Things. A place where curiosity is the curriculum and joy is built into the architecture. Enjoy this flythrough that gives you the full picture of what's to come from the Castle preschool drop-off to the sweeping Kinder Court play landscape — Two complexes. One cohesive vision. A campus designed to nurture the whole child — safe, joyful, and deeply connected to the natural world that makes Sebastopol so special. Stay tuned for more project updates! 🎥 Renderings and Video: Blitz 📐 Architecture: Blitz 🌱 Landscape Architect: Groundworks Office 📋 Owner's CM: Brailsford & Dunlavey, Inc. 🎵 Music credit: Geoff Harvey

The best ideas happen between meetings. At Fenwick's new San Francisco home, we designed the social infrastructure to work as hard as the attorneys who use it. A work café, a hospitality hub , and the Spector Bar were each conceived as a distinct destination — curved millwork, warm materials, mirrors that expand the space, greenery that brings the outside in. The kind of spaces that make people want to stay a little longer. And like every great bar, Spector has a story. Named for a late partner — with its terracotta walls, a curved bar wrapped in reeded detail, pendant lights floating like lanterns, and views of the city thirty floors below, it is not just a bar, it is the heart of the firm. 🥂 Photography by Garrett Rowland, construction by Principal Builders, Inc.

Thirty floors up, a law firm unlike any other. We're sharing the full flythrough of our Fenwick San Francisco project — 41,500 square feet across three floors at One Front Street, designed around a single idea: Exchange. Watch how ideas, people, and energy move through the space — from the bar, to the terrace overlooking the Bay, to every corridor in between. Every pause. Every collision of colleagues. Every sightline. All intentional. This is what it looks like when a law firm decides the office should feel like a destination. Designing a workplace that mirrors its city ✦ San Francisco has always held grit and grace in the same breath — energy and reflection, ambition and calm. So when we designed this 8,500 SF office for a leading real estate firm, we built that same balance right into the space. Every collaboration area opens onto sweeping views of the city and bay. Natural materials — wood, stone, texture with real weight — ground the space, while sharp, contemporary details keep it feeling forward-facing. The concept behind it all: Functional Adaptation — a workplace designed to be as dynamic as the development industry it serves. Beautifully captured by Garrett Rowland and masterfully executed by Skyline Construction this project was a joy to take from concept to publication.

Our own Derek sat down with fellow industry leaders at the “Network Next Gen: Next Level” lunch — and the conversation didn’t disappoint. AI in practice. Evolving workflows. Where the industry is actually headed. The kind of candid, unfiltered dialogue that only happens when the right people are in the room. San Francisco has always had a rich design culture, and events like this are a reminder of why that matters — not just for staying current, but for pushing what’s possible. Grateful for the space to learn, share, and think out loud with peers who are navigating the same questions we are. #Architecture #DesignLeadership #AI #NetworkNextGen #Blitz

Last week, we were invited to join Haworth and MG West at their headquarters in Michigan. What stood out wasn’t scale, it was openness. Across roundtables and lab visits, their teams invited feedback as much as conversation. That’s not always a given at this level. One surprise: the breadth of the Haworth portfolio. A network of brands, many with strong European roots, operating across sectors in ways that feel both expansive and cohesive. The collaboration with Patricia Urquiola is a clear expression of that. But the most resonant moment came from their design lab. Hearing directly from an artist, Fernando Ramirez of COMMON OBJECT, working within that ecosystem, how the partnership has shaped their practice, pointed to something we value deeply: creating space not just for work, but for collaboration and design catalyzation. Thank you to the team, and especially to vanessa bradley for the clarity of the experience, and to Patricia Urquiola, whose vision was a driving force behind its inception. We also value the alignment with Alma Jimenez Lopez in supporting artists and designers as central, not peripheral, always. cc: Allison DeCaro, Madhavi R., Jenny Dodd, Paula Bedford, Brenna Bianchi, Sarunya Leano, John Scott, Liz Johnson, Eric Toth, Derek Ramsey, Grace Hwang, NCIDQ, LEED AP, Dani Gelfand, Ana Calderon, Kurt Vander Schuur and Soracha (Lisa) Naing.
