When Alicia's son, a student-athlete with Type 1 Diabetes, joined the football team, Brad made sure he could compete safely during every single practice. Alicia and her family noticed, and that kind of care makes all the difference. What is the gold standard for WBGT? According to the International Organization for Standardization document on Assessment of heat stress using WBGT (ISO 7243), the WBGT measurement parameters and specifications of instruments requires: • A 150 mm (6-inch) black globe to properly capture radiant heat • A true natural wet bulb thermometer (wetted wick, naturally ventilated) • A radiation-shielded air temperature sensor for ambient temperature This setup is designed to reflect the actual thermal stress on the human body. Why This Matters Many commercially available devices do not measure these parameters directly. This is understandable because for example, maintaining a true natural wet bulb sensor, which requires a wetted wick and water reservoir, can be impractical in many field settings (not to mention keeping the water at the exact same temperature). Many devices: • Use smaller globes and convert them mathematically to a 6-inch globe • Estimate wet bulb temperature using psychrometric wet bulb • Use exposed temperature sensors in direct sunlight with no radiant shield I understand why companies move away from the gold standard, as it is not always practical in field settings. However, these estimations can introduce both over- and underestimation of WBGT in ways that compound error. An important question is: how can emerging technologies estimate WBGT without the gold standard while still maintaining safety for athletes, laborers, and warfighters? 🌩️ New warehouse, same mission! We got the team together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a BTS look at how our weather stations are built. It was pretty neat to see the "guts" of our tech and meet the people who keep everything running. It's been 13 years since Colin Perry founded Perry Weather and seeing how far the tech has come is rewarding. A huge shoutout to Kevin Miller and our entire hardware crew for the tireless effort they put into each and every unit. #weathersafety #PerryWeather

I need a right-hand operator that will work directly with me and, uniquely, across nearly our entire leadership team to reduce operational friction as we enter our 6th year of 80-100% y/y growth at Perry Weather. This means you will dive deep into day-to-day workflows in almost every corner of our company to maintain our speed and efficiency as we scale. What constraints slow us down, result in a mediocre customer experience, or require more resources than necessary? How can we solve those with better processes, new systems, or other operational structures? How can we continually reduce dependencies, simplify communication, and maintain fast decision-making as we scale? This is not a normal job. Perry Weather has all of the necessary ingredients to become an exponentially larger, lasting business with a motivating, unique mission. The toughest part of our path ahead is maintaining solid execution. Your job will be squarely focused on making Perry Weather's execution best in class. Some of this will be high-level and strategic, some will be project management in nature, and much will be hands-on and tactical – in the weeds of every nook and cranny throughout the company. I can't think of a better way to get first-hand exposure to nearly all aspects of building a high-growth technology business.
