#NationalInternDay? We've been celebrating all week long. 💅 We're closing out our "Day in the Life of a Snootern" series with Software Engineering Intern, Alice Li. Alice gives us a glimpse into her summer internship at Reddit, which includes coffee and coding on repeat (and no shortage of fun and free food).

In the midst of a blistering heat wave, /dev/color partnered with Reddit, Inc. on an ice cream social for our NYC chapter members! Gratitude to Reddit CTO Chris Slowe for hosting us in the NYC office and for masterfully moderating a panel of Reddit technical leaders: Aylea Baldwin, Shweta Patira, and Ori Schnaps. Among many key insights, we learned about how the team thinks about their place in the emerging traditional search engine → LLM paradigm shift. They are bullish on their newly-released Answers AI product well-positioning the company to stand out among incumbents in the new era of internet information indexing. As NYC chapter leads, Alexandra Williams and I continue to collaborate with our /dev/color Board of Directors and staff to provide meaningful IRL programming for our NYC chapter members. When you're a Snootern, the first order of business each morning is making sure you didn't break Reddit overnight. 🙂↔️ From our San Francisco HQ, Software Engineering Intern, Heaven Golladay-Watkins, shows us what a typical day is like for her as a Reddit intern.

Check out Reddit's NYC office through the eyes of our Snootern, Allan Howell. Allan shows off Snootern village and his key to starting a productive day (leftover pizza from another team's onsite, yum). Everyone, say hi to Allan! 👋 #NationalInternDay

This Thursday is #NationalInternDay, so we asked our own Snooterns what it's like to intern at Reddit. Turns out, it's part project, part mentorship, part free food. Where do I sign up? Software Engineering Intern Michael Carroll reports live from the NYC office.🗽

It’s #ParentsDay, and we love the many parents (and their Snoolings) who make up our workforce. At Reddit, we’ve built a comprehensive benefits program designed to help Snoos grow their career *and* family, if that's what they decide. Here’s what we offer: 👶 16 weeks of paid parental leave for all new parents. Plus up to 12 weeks of pregnancy disability leave if you’re doing the carrying. 🍼 $30,000 toward fertility and family-building care via Carrot. This stipend covers some of the costly services related to starting a family, such as IVF, adoption, and egg freezing. 💼 1:1 career coaching through Parentaly to help you prep for leave, return with confidence, and keep your momentum going. 👨👩👧 Unlimited access to Cleo for things like doulas, lactation consultants, sleep coaches, baby behavior experts, and even a free gift box for your Snooling. 🏡 A flexible, hybrid culture with unlimited PTO, because parenting doesn’t stop from the hours of 9am to 5pm. 💤 Discounted SNOOs for your Snooling. (Yes, the bassinet. No, we didn’t name it.)
