Since 2002, 75% of journalism jobs are gone, meaning fewer than ever get to have real-life conversations with the reporters covering their communities. We're here to change that. This Friday, Sept. 18, SFGATE is hosting its first free newsroom pop-up on JFK Promenade (at 8th Avenue) in Golden Gate Park, where about a dozen of our journalists will work from 11am to 6pm. Come talk to us! Tell us what's happening in your neighborhood or what everyone in your group chat is talking about. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/eeasG-bi

On Friday, we're putting our newsroom in the park. SFGATE is launching a series of free pop-up newsrooms in San Francisco parks, and the first one is Friday, Sept. 18, 11 a.m.–6 p.m., on JFK Promenade at 8th Avenue in Golden Gate Park. About a dozen of our journalists — from our editor-in-chief to our food, culture, sports, tech and news desks — will be working out of a temporary newsroom we're building for the day, there to talk to readers in person about what's happening in their corner of the city, what we should be paying attention to, and what they want to see us cover. There's also a response wall that grows through the day, professional photo shoots from our photo staff (pets welcome), and free tote bags, posters and postcards featuring work from local artist Shirley Chong for Friends of SFGATE — including anyone who signs up on the spot. The idea is quite literally to put the newsroom in the community it covers. If you're in SF on Friday, come say hi. RSVP here: https://lnkd.in/eeasG-bi

Cameron’s Pub is the most polarizing restaurant in the Bay Area. Not anecdotally. Not politically. It literally has a nearly identical number of 5-star and 1-star reviews on Yelp. For SFGATE, I go deep down the Half Moon Bay rabbit hole to find out why 👇 https://lnkd.in/g7XhTXBb
