The SketchUp Scan Essentials eLearning course is now live on Trimble Learn’s SketchUp Campus! This course is designed for intermediate SketchUp users who want to elevate their skills by modeling directly off of point clouds, leveraging Scan Essentials to accurately trace, snap to, and verify real-world spatial data to create precise 3D models. In this course, participants will learn how to: - Understand what a point cloud is and learn how to successfully import it into SketchUp. - Create and modify clipping boxes to isolate sections of a point cloud, allowing you to model one area at a time. - Create guide points and guidelines before modeling. - Identify the difference between snapping to the point cloud versus SketchUp geometry, and understand when to use each mode for maximum precision. - Generate and refine terrain using the Scan Essentials mesh tools. - Utilize the Inspection Map mode to compare the point cloud against your drawn geometry to ensure an accurate final model. The course can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/e-Waac9N May your point clouds be dense, your clipping boxes cooperate, and your models stay precise... Have fun scanning and modeling, everyone!

If you’re in Colorado, there's only two weeks left before our Roadshow & Bootcamp live learning opportunity begins! Register for a session now to guarantee your seat: https://lnkd.in/eFkGtxvu
We are excited to announce the return of the SketchUp Bootcamp & Roadshow - a live, traveling training program. Our kickoff event will take place this October at Trimble Headquarters in Westminster, CO. The Bootcamp portion is a hands-on SketchUp training and networking experience featuring two learning tracks across two days—all centered around a real-world architectural icon: Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House. Enrollees can choose the workshop that best matches their experience—or attend both days for the complete SketchUp Bootcamp experience. SketchUp 101: Best for beginners, or self-taught users, who want to build clean, organized models with confidence while developing foundational skills in 3D modeling, navigation, and core SketchUp tools. SketchUp 102: Ideal for users familiar with SketchUp's modeling basics who want to strengthen model organization, develop LayOut documentation workflows, and explore collaboration and interoperability across platforms. Through hands-on instruction, learners will build practical SketchUp skills while following a real-world design workflow, from initial modeling through organization, presentation, documentation, and integration with connected technology. Beyond the classroom, the Roadshow brings attendees closer to the broader SketchUp and Trimble ecosystem. They’ll get to meet members of the SketchUp team, explore connected design-to-construction workflows, experience demonstrations of complementary Trimble technologies, and get a preview of what’s ahead for SketchUp. Location: Trimble Headquarters 10368 Westmoor Drive Westminster, CO 80021 Dates: Friday, October 9, 2026: 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM MST Registration Fee: $40 per day (includes refreshments). Are you working on retrofit projects, existing building surveys, or performance audits? Modelling existing buildings for energy and performance analysis starts with getting an accurate picture of what's actually there - and that's often the hardest part. But it doesn't have to be. Join IES and Trimble for a walkthrough of an end-to-end workflow that takes you from point cloud data to performance simulation, and learn how to increase accuracy and save time on your projects.
