Cameron Durden (left), a purchaser II in our Administrative Operations Division, has been creating art since 2020, building on early roots in theater, set design, and singing. During the COVID lockdown, he reignited his creativity and began exploring new artistic techniques with encouragement from his illustrator brother. This month, Cameron showcased his work in The Art of Us 2026: Celebrating African American Creativity with the Williamson County Art Guild Gallery. This exhibition was especially meaningful, featuring a piece honoring his grandmother, who passed away from dementia in 2009. Through intentional textures, purple tones, and symbolic details, Cameron blends storytelling and visual art to celebrate her life and legacy. If you are in the Georgetown area this weekend, be sure to stop by the gallery! #ThisIsTDI

🎉 Our final 2026 Outstanding Women in Texas Government honoree — and she's a Rising Star! Lorna Camacho-Olivarez is the Spanish-language spokesperson and translator for the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). In just a few years, she's built TDI's Spanish communications program from the ground up — leading the two-and-a-half-year translation of TDI's website (now with more than 1 million pageviews) and launching "Un Minuto de Seguro," a video series other state insurance departments now reshare. Lorna has given more than 400 Spanish-language media interviews across Texas and was invited by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) to present TDI's outreach model to peers nationwide. Help us celebrate Lorna and all four 2026 honorees on October 1st at the JW Marriott Austin! Commissioner Amanda Crawford joined fellow regulators at the Hill Country Classic Regulatory Roundtable, participating in a panel with Commissioner White of Virginia, Commissioner Mulready of Oklahoma, Commissioner Fowler of Alabama, and former West Virginia Commissioner McVey. She spoke about the pressures consumers and companies are facing in a changing insurance market and shared how these trends shape TDI’s efforts to modernize systems and improve the way information is delivered to Texans. She explained how TDI is giving Texans better access to useful information through premium maps, searchable home and auto filings, county loss trends, and updated guides that help people compare health and Medicare Supplement coverage. These tools support TDI’s mission of empowering Texans with clear and reliable information so they can make informed decisions about their insurance options.
