Windham School District launched its first Student Voice Council meetings with support from Lee College and TDCJ unit administration. A valuable opportunity for students to share their perspective! 👏
This month, Windham School District students at the Wainwright and Wynne campuses participated in the first Student Voice Council meetings, creating an opportunity for students to serve as a voice for their peers and share ideas and experiences directly with district, higher education and unit leadership. Students met with their campus and regional principal, representatives from Lee College and Texas Department Of Criminal Justice unit administration to discuss their educational experiences, program opportunities and areas for growth. These conversations provided valuable insight into student needs and priorities while helping strengthen engagement between students and educational leadership. Thank you to the students and staff who helped make these conversations possible and continue creating opportunities for student voices to be heard! Windham looks forward to expanding these opportunities across the district.

New Horizons Employment Solutions continues to collaborate with TDCJ, partner agencies and community organizations focused on reentry and workforce access. Events like Clean Slate Day bring teams together to help individuals move forward with new opportunities. A meaningful effort across the Houston community. 🌎
New Horizons Employment Solutions was honored to participate in Clean Slate Day at Fallbrook Church, hosted by the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Fallbrook Church. This incredible event brought together organizations and individuals from across the Greater Houston area who are committed to 'Breaking the Cycle of Criminal Recidivism' by providing a wide range of services, support, and assistance. By leveraging collective community resources and working hand-in-hand, we’re helping people overcome barriers, access opportunities, and move forward toward a brighter future. New Horizons has established close partnerships with the Texas Department Of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) and other law enforcement organizations, non-profits, and businesses throughout the state of Texas. For over 8 years, we have been providing meaningful employment opportunities to hard-working, humble American men amp; women—Returning Americans—who are hungry to get their lives back on track. We are excited to continue building similar relationships with the City of Houston and Harris County—connecting employers, government agencies, community organizations, and individuals who believe in the power of safe, secure, spiritual housing, meaningful employment and second chances. We are grateful to stand alongside the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Fallbrook Church, Charlene Ward Johnson, M.A., Rodney Ellis, State Senator Molly Cook, Justice of the Peace Wanda Adams, My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Houston, and the many other organizations and volunteers who made this day possible. I am personally grateful to my team Jay Fester and Thomas Harris for spending their Saturday supporting this wonderful event. “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:11 We firmly believe a person’s past does not have to define their future. Sometimes an employment opportunity—and someone willing to open that door—is where a new chapter begins—for both the individual and the business for whom they work. We’ll keep showing up. We’ll keep building relationships. And we’ll keep Putting Americans Back to Work. #CleanSlateDay #SecondChances #NewHorizonsEmploymentSolutions #CallTheColonel #PuttingAmericansBackToWork #ReturningAmericans #WorkforceDevelopment #HarrisCounty #Houston #CommunityImpact

TDCJ appreciates the leadership highlighted during the recent Toastmasters event at the Coffield Unit. Participants demonstrated courage as they worked to strengthen communication skills and share personal reflections. Thank you to the The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles, Anthony Newton, NCPT, Mr. Holloway and Coffield Unit administration for supporting opportunities that encourage growth. 🙌📈
It was great to visit the Coffield Unit today with members of the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles and witness the Coffield Toastmasters event. The inmate participants showed tremendous courage by delivering powerful speeches about their personal struggles, failures, victories, and the lessons they have learned along the way. Their willingness to confront their fear of public speaking and share their experiences was both inspiring and meaningful. A special thanks to Mr. Perry Holloway and the Coffield Unit administration for their commitment to positive change and for supporting these participants as they work to build a better future. #TDCJ #LeadwithHeart
