What if one investment could transform lives, build climate resilience, and help the planet thrive?  Many already can.  Powering hospitals with clean energy can reduce pollution while keeping essential services running during climate shocks. Restoring forests and wetlands can reduce flooding and lower the risk of diseases spreading from animals to people. Climate-smart agriculture and better water management can help protect food security, nutrition and livelihoods. The links between climate and health are complex. But they also create opportunities to solve several challenges at once. UNDP Climate breaks down the risks, the costs and the solutions. If you could scale one climate and health solution first, what would it be?

Circular economy innovation from Türkiye reaches New York! Through “Second Harvest”, a partnership between UNDP Türkiye and Anadolu Efes, women’s cooperatives are transforming barley straw left in fields after harvest into a new design material, crafting new possibilities for local value creation. In the “Soil to Surface” exhibition, their creations are travelling from Adıyaman to New York. Realized through a collaboration between MILKist Social Design Center and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), the exhibit showcases the work of these women alongside creations by FIT students, faculty, and alumni. From agricultural fields to the world of design, “Second Harvest” shows how local knowledge and materials can inspire new possibilities for people and planet. Not everything we see online is true.   People need timely, reliable information to strengthen trust, support informed decisions and help people participate meaningfully in society.   This International Day for Universal Access to Information is a reminder to pause and verify information before sharing.

☕️ A takeaway coffee 🧴 A plastic bottle 🥣 A quick lunch For travellers, these are small, easy-to-overlook conveniences. But in places that welcome millions of visitors each year, they quickly add up, becoming part of a much larger flow of plastic waste generated locally. So how can a day of travel leave a lighter plastic footprint? This #WorldTourismDay, meet Lay, Valy and Rumlue, 3 innovators in Southeast Asia who are finding practical ways to reduce plastic use and prevent plastic waste from reaching the environment: https://go.undp.org/Nht

One month after devastating floods swept through northern Nepal, the long road to recovery is beginning.   Homes, roads, bridges and farmland were swept away. Around 7,570 buildings were damaged or destroyed, while in some places rivers shifted course by as much as 100 metres.   Now, the focus is turning from emergency response to recovery.   UNDP is supporting the government authorities with drone mapping and field assessments to understand the damage, map debris and identify where roads and essential services need to be restored first.   But recovery will mean more than rebuilding what was lost. Where rivers have changed course and settlements have been buried, communities face difficult decisions about what to rebuild, where, and how to make it safer and more resilient.   “Communities are still in shock and grieving. We can rebuild what has been destroyed, but we cannot bring back the lives that have been lost. Our priority now is to help communities through the crisis and begin the long road to recovery” says Kyoko Yokosuka, UNDP Nepal Resident Representative.   Read more: https://go.undp.org/N23
