AI isn’t just helping us hire faster — it’s helping us rethink when and how candidates get the opportunity to show what they can do. More access. Fewer barriers. Better hiring. Proud of what we’re building at Braintrust with AIR. 🚀
WIRED reported last week that a quarter of AI interviews now happen between 10pm and 2am. The people interviewing at those hours are often shift workers, hourly employees, and parents managing childcare. People who can’t simply step away during the workday. For many of them, a 9-to-5 interview was never a real option. Which means interview scheduling has functioned as an invisible hiring filter for decades. Requiring someone to be free at 11am on a Tuesday screens out anyone whose work or personal life doesn’t allow it. And that has very little to do with whether they can do the job. Those candidates often dropped out of the process altogether. And when they did, we called them unresponsive or hard to reach. But the problem wasn’t the candidate. The process required availability they didn’t have. That requirement is what AI interviewing removes. Not the recruiter. Not the judgment. Not the decision. Just the part that said a candidate had to be free when the company was. That’s exactly what we built Braintrust AIR to do. Every candidate gets the same interview and the same scoring, on whatever schedule they can manage. And I believe that’s a MUCH fairer starting line for hiring.
