Last week, I had the opportunity to spend 40 hours with my District Manager, James Flores , and it was one of the most impactful weeks of my leadership journey. I learned the difference between understanding the “what” and understanding the “why behind the what.” The what is how you execute. The why is how you become a great leader. In my past, especially in retail, I was often focused on putting band-aids on fires and solving the problem as quickly as possible. This past week reminded me that calmness, patience, and a level mindset can lead you to a much better solution. James, I truly appreciate the pour-in leadership you continue to give—not only to me, but to my peers and our teams. Your investment in people makes a difference, and I’m grateful to learn from you. I also want to give a huge shoutout to Scotty Koziol . Since I joined Victra, the long conversations, daily training, and opportunities to learn have continued to challenge me to grow. One of the biggest lessons has been understanding how to coach from afar—how to develop people, create accountability, and lead even when you aren’t physically standing beside your team. I’m extremely grateful for mentors who don’t just tell you what to do, but take the time to teach you why. Every conversation. Every coaching moment. Every training session. The learning never stops. As I’m finishing up the first week of my senior year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my summer internship with Victra - Verizon Authorized Retailer. This summer I had the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sales, specifically within the wireless telecommunications industry. I truly believe success comes down to your daily goals and mindset, as well as the team you have around you. I used my strengths to succeed in sales and learned how to effectively overcome objections. I want to give a huge thank you to my professor, Brooke Reavey PhD, who helped me find this opportunity. I also want to thank my store manager, Isis Taylor, who taught me so much — I wouldn’t have grown so quickly without her guidance. And thank you, Kimberly Fair and Brooke Marrow, for helping make this opportunity possible I’m so grateful for the experience I gained and everyone I met along the way. I look forward to bringing these lessons into my senior year and beyond!
