When we first launched a beta for our Figma prototype tests, we couldn’t get a single customers to convert. It wasn’t until we added screen recording and voice recording that prospects started saying yes. Later, we kept hearing from customers that they wanted study-wide recording—so we built it. That one (seemingly trivial) feature became a turning point, helping us win over enterprise teams already using incumbent products. The lesson here is that you don’t always know the “killer feature” upfront. Even if you build the right thing, you may have to continue to hear what the market says and continue to iterate until you get it right. If you listen carefully to your customers, they’ll point you toward the unlocks that truly move the needle.

Founders walk into their first development meeting with a slide deck. Mistake #1. Because that is the easiest way to fund an agency's education on 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 dime, a slide deck leaves way too much room for interpretation. Before you talk to an AI developer or commit serious capital, you need to do one thing: 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲. You do not need to know how to code to do this. With tools like Bolt, Cursor, and Replit, any founder can build a functional mockup. It doesn’t have to be pretty. The goal isn't a finished UI; the goal is direct, clear communication. When you bring a functional prototype to the table, you give the room something concrete to pressure test. You show them exactly:  • What your product does  • How it behaves  • What the experience actually feels like Great leaders know exactly what they want before they start writing checks. Mistakes are cheapest to catch at the prototype stage. If the product falls apart in a functional mockup, it isn't worth building. Founders: The best time to move your shares into a trust is before your next fundraise. Because the second you raise money, the valuation jumps. That means: • The “gift value” of your shares goes up. • You trigger bigger gift tax implications. • You limit how much equity you can move out of your name. Do the planning now, when your shares are still cheap on paper. Future you will thank you.

It reminds founders that dilution (giving up pieces of your company to investors) is worth it if those resources help turn the company into something massive. Stop trying to make “SOTA” happen. It’s not helping your business. I keep seeing AI consultants, and experts, claiming their solution is “state-of-the-art.” Cool. But meaningless. Founders, do not work on your pitch deck until you know what investors actually look for. Is your deck something like this? 16 slides, three of which carry weight, the rest filling space. - A market section that says "$50B TAM" without explaining what slice the company actually competes in. - A team slide that lists titles, not why this team wins. - A traction slide built around vanity metrics because the real numbers are not yet ready to defend. A good template does not write the deck for you. It forces you to make structural decisions before you start writing. - Which "Stage" am I in? - What's our "Scope?" - The single "Problem" you solve. - The "Customer" who will pay first. - The reason NOW, not three years ago, not three years from now. These decisions are hard. That is the point. Investors evaluate decks fast. The ones that move forward are rarely the most ambitious or the most polished. They are the clearest. One market. Everybody keeps asking, “Which AI tool should I use?” ChatGPT? Claude? Gemini? Perplexity? Midjourney? Runway? ElevenLabs? Here’s the Blount truth: Stop trying to pick the perfect tool before you even understand the game. Start exploring.
