That’s why the Mars Impact Fund has announced a $3 million, three year partnership with National 4-H Council - the U.S.’s largest youth development organization to help inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers. The partnership will… 🎓 Tap into 4-H's Cooperative Extension network to deploy individual grants to young people at universities in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Tennessee. 💪 Support up to 200,000 young people by creating on-ramps to food, agriculture and veterinary science careers This investment is part of Mars commitment to growing and diversifying the pipeline of future scientists in the communities where we operate. Andy Pharoah shared thisOutside of appearances on the various “X country’s got talent" shows pets (generally) can’t talk, so how can we best understand their health. Most people think of a veterinary visit with their beloved pet as the time spent in an examination room with a vet. What is far less visible is the extraordinary diagnostic machinery sitting behind that visit, that can help truly understand what is going on - and to do so efficiently, accurately, and quickly. I spent time last week in New York recently with our Science & Diagnostics team, including a walkthrough of one of our Antech Diagnostics reference laboratories. When you see the volume of samples coming through the door – and the relentless precision required to turn them around quickly for anxious pet owners – it dimensionalizes what is needed to get pets the care they deserve. For our Corporate Affairs team, the task isn't to spin complex science into generic corporate slogans. It's to understand the clinical reality, champion the people doing the work, break down any internal barriers through effective comms and make sure the science speaks clearly for itself. My thanks to Mary Kuriann and the lab team for walking me through the operation, and to Eva Hübner and the SDx team for a great day of learning and discovery.

Andy Pharoah shared thisFew things bring getting to know a business to life quite like being on the factory floor. I spent a couple of days in Spain with the team at our Mars Valls plant recently, which is close to the city of Tarragona (which is worth a visit in own right for its Roman Amphitheater and other ancient ruins, as well as its stunning Cathedral). It is always fascinating to see the scale behind household staples like Corn Flakes, Special K, and Chocos. The team invited me to join their morning food review to evaluate the latest batch before release. It was quickly obvious that their standards for product quality is uncompromising – which is precisely how it should be. Beyond the cereal itself, what really stood out was the thought going into modernizing the site. The team walked me through how they are applying practical automation and operational data on the line – not for the sake of new technology alone, but to genuinely make everyday work simpler and operations sharper. Bringing two organizations together works best when you sit down, compare notes and learn from one another. My sincere thanks to everyone at Valls for the hospitality and for taking the time to show me around. #ProudlyMars

Andy Pharoah shared thisThe Mars Impact Fund today announced a $13M+ investment across six new partnerships to strengthen sourcing communities, cultivate the next generation of scientists and support companion animal wellbeing. From projects that help improve the health and livelihoods of cocoa and mint farming families in Cote d’Ivoire and India, to preparing 200,000 young people in the U.S. for future scientific careers and driving last-mile rabies elimination in Thailand, this is what growing a business responsibly looks like in action. Our supply chains and our communities are deeply connected, and we cannot drive this level of impact alone. I am incredibly grateful to our partners, Elucid, Tanager, Pratham Education Foundation, PANI, National 4-H Council and Worldwide Veterinary Service, for their expertise and shared commitment. Terrific work by Michelle (Shelly) Grogg and the team for bringing this next phase of impact to life. Andy Pharoah shared thisAnother stop during my time in Salt Lake City - the home of “Mother Nature’s Favorite,” Trü Frü! 🍓 It’s been quite a few years for this team. Since joining Mars, Trü Frü has doubled its business, expanded into new markets around the world and grown to more than 100 Associates - all while continuing to make some seriously good snacks. I also got to try the new Greek Yogurt line and can confirm: it’s delicious. A big thank you to Harvey Millar, Brady Anderton, Tatiana Hayashi, Thomas Rigal, Angie Wolthuis, Karina G. Gonzalez and Kelly Evans for the warm welcome, and to the entire Trü Frü team for sharing more about the brand, its growth and what’s ahead.

Andy Pharoah shared thisLast year, Mars opened this state-of-the-art Nature's Bakery facility - a $240 million investment in the brand’s growth and in U.S. manufacturing. It has some of the most glorious views you will find with the Wasatch Mountain Range standing guard. Today, more than 230 Associates work here, with the capacity to bake more than 1 billion bars every year - it's one giant kitchen. The technology is impressive, but as always, it’s the people who bring it to life. Great to spend time with the team and see firsthand the energy behind a brand that has more than doubled in size since joining Mars. A big thank you to Lauren Spear, Pilar Arellano, Clint Briske, Ashley Johnson and Angel Gomez for the welcome and for showing me around. #ProudlyMars

Andy Pharoah shared thisApparently it’s not just the management of Richmond FC making trips to Kansas City these days… You come for the BBQ and stay for the Cheez-It and great people. Really enjoyed spending time with our team in Kansas City, where they’ve been making Cheez-It for more than 75 years. I even learned the little hole in the middle of every cracker has a name - the “docker hole” - and helps give Cheez-It its signature crunch. Great to see the pride and expertise behind this iconic brand, now part of Mars, and to meet more of the Associates we’re bringing together as one team. Thanks to the Kansas City team for the warm welcome! #ProudlyMars

Thank you. Peter Hempstead. We met before I joined. You interviewed me in October or November 2007 and we went for lunch afterwards

Just like many of our sites, our McLean headquarters was transformed for our annual Boo Bash, welcoming Associates and their families for a day of spooky fun, creativity and plenty of treats. A big thank you to everyone who brought the magic to life. Happy Halloween! #ProudlyMars

Tomorrow, October 30, is my last day. When I joined Hill & Knowlton in November 2002, I honestly never thought I would stay in one agency for so long. Two thirds of my professional career later, I know why I did. The people. Smart minds across the global network shared their knowledge generously and without pretension. We pitched together, debated, disagreed and celebrated properly. That culture of trust challenged me as much as it supported me. I would love to name everyone, but there simply isn't enough space. I'm sure you will recognise yourselves. The clients and projects. I had the opportunity to support organisations through extremely challenging situations and to work on some of our most impactful projects alongside brilliant colleagues. And above all, my colleagues, in our Corporate Practice and beyond, including those who have moved on. You supported me, and I had the privilege of supporting you. Together, we shaped the Corporate Practice and turned it into a success story. Some of these relationships are built on unshakable trust, and for that I am deeply thankful. What comes next: I will start a new chapter as an active retiree and Senior Advisor outside WPP, and I am excited about it. I will also make more room for family and my gravel bike. Twenty-four years is a long chapter. I'm grateful for how it ends and curious about what comes next. Thank you all, and if our bike paths cross somewhere, I'd love to catch up.

Across the world, we’re seeing the season stretch and evolve, but one thing remains constant: people are looking for shared moments of connection. Our recent Mars Tricks, Treats and Trends report found that 75% of Americans agree a shared candy bowl builds community. That simple truth is at the heart of how Halloween comes to life across our global business: • In the U.S., the season is getting longer and bolder, with 60% of consumers seeking "extreme" flavor experiences. We are innovating to match that excitement with new concepts like SKITTLES POP’D Creepy Crunch. • In Germany, our M&M’S Halloween Survey shows a rapidly growing embrace of the season, with nearly two-thirds of consumers looking forward to celebrating annually. • In Australia, our Ballarat factory is running around the clock to meet local Halloween demand—making 3,000 fun-size candy bars a minute. This is a phenomenal effort by our Associates to keep Australian candy bowls stocked and celebrations strong. Behind every stat and factory metric is our aim to inspire happiness with better snacks for better days – making sure this evolving season brings people closer together, one treat at a time. 🎃🍬 #ProudlyMars #Halloween

Research by Mars found as many as 83% of pet owners say their pet improves their wellbeing. I am firmly one of them - no matter how many socks she’s destroyed. I am not naturally a morning person, but 6:30am is now my favourite time of day. We get up early, we walk to the park and I get half an hour of time where no one expects anything of me beyond throwing a ball. It’s the best way to wake up and grounds me in a world that’s bigger than emails and PowerPoint, and reminds me why I work for a company that believes in creating A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. That sense of calm stays with me for the whole day - I notice a big difference when I’m away travelling for work. So this #WorldMentalHealthDay, I’m celebrating the tiny things (or tiny dogs) that make a big difference. #ProudlyMars #WMHD26

Andy Pharoah liked thisAndy Pharoah liked thisThere’s no better way to experience the energy, beauty, and diversity of Chicago – the global home of Mars Snacking – than running through 29 of its incredible neighborhoods alongside 50,000+ people from around the world. Running the Chicago Marathon yesterday, for me, embodied what community spirit and endurance look like in action. The 26.2 miles aren't about individual performance; they're about preparation, resilience, pacing, and drawing energy from fellow runners and the people supporting you along the way – much like running a business. The crowds, the volunteers, and the sheer vibrancy on the streets yesterday showed the city at its very best, and I'm proud that we continue to build our presence here. A huge shout-out to all the fellow runners who crossed the finish line, the volunteers who kept us going, and especially the other Mars Associates like Benjamin GUILBERT, Greg Hocking, Ramesh Kollepara and many more who ran, cheered, fundraised and fueled the weekend. And yes – crossing the finish line called for a Rice Krispies Treat! #ProudlyMars #ChicagoMarathon

Andy Pharoah liked thisAndy Pharoah liked thisAfter a long and wonderfully interesting career, I’ve decided it’s time to hang up my corporate hat. I’ll officially retire from PepsiCo at the end of this year. And I couldn’t have imagined a more fitting way to mark my last day. For the last few years, my mornings have begun with an early train from Harlem to White Plains. Yesterday, rather wonderfully, the journey ended on a yellow school bus taking me from PepsiCo’s beautiful campus to my four-year-old son’s school in Manhattan. From the commuter train to the school bus. From one chapter of life to another. I couldn’t have scripted it better. It’s been quite a journey. I’ve had the privilege of working with extraordinary people, travelling to fascinating places, and experiencing things I could never have imagined when I first started out. PepsiCo has been a remarkable professional home, and I leave with enormous gratitude for the people and opportunities that have shaped my time there. But careers, like most things, have seasons. And somewhere along the way I’ve come to appreciate that time is perhaps the greatest luxury of all. I’m looking forward to a different pace. More time for family, for learning, for adventures, and perhaps for some of those things that too easily get fitted around a busy working life. I don’t yet know exactly what the next chapter will contain. And for once, I’m rather enjoying not having a plan. One final thank you to Gary Titley MEP, who started this whole adventure with an £11,000-a-year job offer in Brussels back in 1991. Thirty-five years later, I’ve ended up on a school bus in New York. Not quite where I imagined that first job might lead, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Here’s to the next adventure. I’ll be taking a (gentle) leave of absence from LinkedIn but friends and colleagues know how to find me.
