Annie Yu shared thisLast month, we partnered with OpenAI to launch a competition in Nairobi. Cheers to the winner, who pitched a project using Codex that focused on time-sensitive, humanitarian aid in areas of conflict. At Andela, we have a wide community of developers and technologists across the globe who join our Talent Network for jobs. Not only are they incredibly skilled, they're dedicated to making the world a better place. I am so inspired by them, and I am honored to work for a company that brings these visions to life. We are hiring across the world across various departments in sales, product operations, learning (client-facing), finance and more. Check out our Careers page: https://lnkd.in/eTRsEfXvAnnie Yu shared thisPlease join us in congratulating Norbert Osiemo on taking home the $3000 grand prize at the first Andela x OpenAI Codex Champions Showcase. Norbert created a project called “Ubuntu Voice,” a platform for reporting conflicts, finding out about local emergencies, and facilitating responses from humanitarian organizations in real-time. With Ubuntu Voice, he wanted to solve the real-world challenge of delivering time-sensitive aid to those in conflict zones while protecting those reporting incidents from retaliation or loss of privacy. Congratulations Norbert! And a big thank you to everyone who took part. Your thirst for learning and creative problem-solving is truly inspiring. And thank you to Emmanuel Lubanzadio, OpenAI, for your support and participation.

Annie Yu shared thisWe were invited to OAI's Hackathon and placed second. We tapped our Talent network of developers and technologists for ideas, and the sheer number of submissions we received about internet stability and accessibility was surprising. It ties into what Andela stands for – brilliance is everywhere, but opportunity is not. While internet accessibility is out of our hands, I'm grateful to work for a company that actively bridges inequity in the global tech ecosystem in other ways. The photo you see here is a group of folks across 3 teams – many who did not work together before this, 3 who joined this year (it's only April!) and all who have been here less than a year. I'm so excited by the work we're doing (like OAI's Hackathon!) and we are hiring. Check out our Careers page: https://lnkd.in/eTRsEfXvAnnie Yu shared thisBig congratulations to Barun Singh, Adelynne Chao, Venkat Gali, William Marquardt, and Cory Hymel, the Andela team members who just brought home a second-place win from the Global Codex Hackathon for OpenAI partners in San Francisco. And thank you to the over 150 people who participated from our network of technologists! Instead of doing it alone, we took the challenge to our network. What could we build that would be useful to our technologists? In a short time, we had 142 entries. Choosing just one was difficult, but we went with a solution to help folks get back online if there is an interruption in internet services. A prototype that allows users to list and share their internet connection with others in the area who have lost service. It even signals to your coworkers when you’ve been interrupted, letting them know you’ll be back soon. Out of approximately 30+ teams, we were the only ones who also brought a full panel of remote testers. Over 70 people from the Andela network tested the solution in real time while the team was still building. We’re not stopping here. What the team built is being open-sourced back to the network so that others can take it further. And we’re working on some fun activations for 2026, including hosting our own hackathons and helping more of the fantastic ideas we received to get built. TIA!! #ThisIsAndela

Annie Yu shared thisAndela is hiring an Executive Assistant that supports a few of our executives, and reports to me. We are remote and looking to hire in Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, and Canada – our global hubs that are more EST-friendly, but we are open to all applicants that can work EST hours. While we're at the precipice of AI <> Tech, experience in the industry is not required as long as you have some working knowledge of AI and a general understanding of the Tech industry. Take it from someone who was in media, journalism and advertising for 10+ years before moving into tech. Come work with me! https://lnkd.in/et3ZE4bS

Annie Yu shared thisIf we've worked together before, chances are we've done a company offsite together and I've probably asked you to return to your seat to begin programming. Of all the things I do, offsites are by far one of my favorites. There’s nothing quite like aligning on goals, building momentum, strengthening connection, and turning strategy into something human – especially in a hybrid and remote world. Last week, Andela gathered 180+ attendees across 23 countries in Morocco. How did we do last year? And what's in the store for this year? Andela is the AI deployment engine for enterprises. As AI continues to reshape how we all work, and as companies look to scale and upskill, we’re here for you. We do this through our global network of exceptional engineers and developers, robust assessment tools that match talent to real business needs, and operational excellence that reduces time to hire and time to deliver results. At our offsite last week, whether it was part of a kickoff session, during the executive #AMA, over a shared meal, on a hot air balloon ride, or wandering the Moroccan souks, every employee is clear on where we stand, and the impact they can have. We spend too much time at work to not love what we do, and where we do it. Cheers to my offsite planning team Kate Szygiel, Lila Millsap, and David Dolnick who make global event planning look like a breeze. We have big goals for 2026, and we're more than ready. Let's go! If you're looking to partner with a company to scale and accelerate your efforts, let's talk. If you're looking for a company that truly prioritizes the employee experience, we're hiring! Check out our careers page.

Annie Yu posted thisI am so excited to share that I'm on week 4 at Andela! Andela is a global talent marketplace and AI platform that matches companies with the world’s best software engineers and technologists. At Andela, we connect brilliance with opportunity so everyone wins. While I'm leaving the media and advertising industry after 10+ years, Andela's mission resonated so deeply. My parents immigrated from China to New York for a better life. While I'm the third of four kids, I was the first in my family to graduate college and the first to have an "office job." The first few weeks have been so energizing and I'm beyond excited to build with Carrol Chang, Lila Millsap, Kate Holowink, Kelly Wenzel, Alan Fiddes, Alvaro Oliveira, Courtney Machi, Tisbe Galindo and the rest of the team! It would be wonderful to cross paths again whether we become colleagues or partners. For partners, our numbers speak for themselves – 66% faster time to hire, 33% faster project delivery, $80K cost savings per talent, and more. For colleagues, we operate in 22 countries and are fully remote. Check out our Careers page at https://lnkd.in/eKad42nT. We're also hiring for an SVP, Global Revenue, CFO, and VP Legal.

Annie Yu shared thisI had the privilege of meeting Anne Chow (She/Her) through Unlock Her Potential®. Over the course of 12 months, we laughed, we cried (ok just I cried), and we achieved. I always tell everyone it's hands-down, one of the best things I've done in my career. Unlock Her Potential is an incredible program that is the epitome of women of color and allies supporting women of color. Period. 😉 Congrats to all the mentees and here's to year 4!Annie Yu shared thisHONORED and overwhelmed to be accepted in the 2024 cohort of Unlock Her Potential®! A huge thank you to Sophia Chang, founder of Unlock Her Potential, as well as the entire team at UP, for this opportunity. Annie Yu reacted on thisAnnie Yu reacted on thisI remember when I first heard about what Andela does and how immediately it connected with my own story and view of the world: Brilliance is everywhere. Opportunity is not. For almost five years, I had the most intense and rewarding experience of my career: helping people land their dream jobs, and thrive once they got there. All while being surrounded by some of the smartest people I've ever met, and constantly challenged to see the world through different lenses. I had the dream job, too. I made friends. I travelled the world. I led strategic projects and organizations. I learned about different technologies, solutions and business challenges. And somewhere along the way, I became the global leader that 16-year-old Jo would have been so proud of. What a journey! And then, the other day, I read something that really stayed with me: There's so much beauty in letting go of what's good, too. And that time had come for me. After almost half a decade, I decided to leave Andela and start something new. It's only been a few weeks since my last day — and gosh, do I miss the people! — but I've also finally had space for so many things I've been putting off for years. Long breakfasts in the morning. Volunteering. And that little draft note on the side of my desk where a business idea is slowly starting to take shape. I'm incredibly grateful for those years, for everything they gave me, and especially for the amazing people I had the chance to meet along the way. Now it's time to build the next chapter. And I am SO excited about it!

Annie Yu reacted on thisAnnie Yu reacted on thisI didn’t expect a CMO title to be part of my next chapter, not even a fractional one. But sometimes an opportunity feels like a natural extension of everything you’ve done before. When a team you trust builds a platform that addresses a real gap in the market, and you believe deeply in both the product and the people behind it, it’s hard not to want to be part of what comes next. I’m excited to bring my background in sales and sales enablement to a broader go-to-market role, and even more excited about what we’re building, the market we’re helping to shape, and the team I get to do it with. Unexpected? Definitely. And I couldn’t be happier about it. #CareerJourney #NextChapter #LifePlaceUK

Annie Yu reacted on thisAnnie Yu reacted on thisNew headshot alert! Actually, I have a whole folder full, thanks to the Golden State Valkyries and Rakuten. For the last few months, I've been taking part in Ascending Stars, a cohort of ambitious, motivated, and inspiring young women from across the Bay Area who are passionate about making an impact in their communities through sport. It's been a rewarding experience getting to sit alongside such a talented group of women, and I'm particularly grateful to Tayllor Washington, M.S.. and Veronne J. Clark, MPS for investing their time and energy into creating a space for us to share ideas, develop connections, and continue to LEARN. Through a number of career pivots and progressions, there are a handful of core principles that I've held close no matter the industry: integrity, accountability, sportsmanship, strategic planning, and respect. Combine those with the exceptional people you meet along the way, and true impact can be made. Cheers!

Annie Yu reacted on thisAnnie Yu reacted on thisGet to know Aaron Jaramillo, Sales Development Representative at Andela, “I help companies scale AI adoption by building AI-ready teams and bridging the gap between ideas and real capability.” “I joined Andela because I wanted to be in an environment surrounded by people I could learn from and grow in my sales career especially at a company that isn't just adapting to the future of AI, but shaping it. I love being part of a team that's tackling the bigger challenge of AI growth and modernization, all while creating opportunities for talented people around the globe.” “One of my biggest hobbies outside of work is music. I love discovering new songs and even producing my own. Having music playing always brings me a sense of calm and peace.” We asked Aaron to share two truths and a lie. Can you spot the lie? ✦ I played in orchestra as a kid ✦ I hate loud cars ✦ I like making music #ThisIsAndela #BusinessSolutions #TechHiring

I’ll be spending a few days learning from the Anthropic team and getting a closer look at how they approach partner training and enablement. Very interested to see how the team behind Basecamp design great technical training, and what we can learn from that as we scale Learning Solutions at Andela. Next stop, San Francisco ✈️

Annie Yu reacted on thisAnnie Yu reacted on thisMy first Monday back at work is in the books! After more than 6 years at Uber, my partner and I decided to take some time away from work. It was something we’d always talked about doing, and kept putting off; but we eventually realized it was never going to feel like a “good” time. There’s never a “good” time to leave a company, role, mission, and people that you love. But we decided to take the plunge, and it was absolutely the right decision. This time has been rewarding and fulfilling in so many ways, and I’m forever grateful that we were lucky enough to take it. I’m thrilled to now be joining Andela as VP of Operations. The thing that motivated me the most at Uber was the mission - I believe access to good transportation is a foundational need, unlocking access to the opportunities in our communities. Removing barriers to that access helps lay the groundwork for a more equitable world. That same theme - connecting people with opportunities and removing barriers to access in service of greater equity - is what makes me so excited about Andela. Andela’s founding mission is that brilliance is everywhere, but opportunity is not. By connecting a global network of AI-native, enterprise-ready technologists, with companies who are transforming the way they work in the most exciting era of technology, Andela is the connective tissue bringing these opportunities to life. And to top it all off, I get to work with Carrol Chang! Anyone who’s worked with Carrol knows she is a force of nature, and I am so pumped to be joining her amazing team. While I will miss the adventures of our time off, I’m so excited to dive into this next chapter to help build the operations, marketplace, and talent infrastructure that will scale Andela's impact to the next level 💚
