Blair Peterson posted thisRecently, I ran into an unfortunate situation with a partner NuORDER by Lightspeed. We have been working with them since 2018. Our contract auto renewed with no heads up. The next day, I wrote saying we need to cancel and was told that since they are a public company and our renewal passed there is nothing they can do. I looked back at my emails from our account manager. I had not heard from her since the last contract renewal when she did reach out to go over the services prior to our renewal. Where was she this year? What level of service does NuORDER by Lightspeed provide to their brands if they never reach out to their accounts? I know I missed the deadline and I own that, but this is not the level of partnership you would expect after 8 years. It is so disappointing. Has this ever happened to you? What did you do?

Blair Peterson shared thisDana Rebecca Designs turns 19 years old today! I’m incredibly proud to have been a part of the DRD journey since 2019. Looking back at my last 6+ years with the brand, we’ve experienced it all: rapid growth, plateaus, launching new sales channels, making the hard decision to close others, algorithm overhauls, and evolving team dynamics. They all hit in different ways and no two days are ever the same. That constant evolution is exactly why I love what I do. Working alongside Dana Gordon, I have watched her lead with genuine heart, her sharp gut intuition and an attention to detail that is uncanny. Dana has not only built a timeless fine jewelry brand, but a community. She is a listener, a friend and a daily reminder that bringing beautiful products to fruition takes grit and hard work behind the scenes. Cheers DRD to 19 years! I cant wait to see how we continue to grow, innovate and surprise and delight our community next. Celebrate with us and shop our biggest sale of the year at 19% off sitewide. https://lnkd.in/eHiZa-bx

Blair Peterson posted thisAt DRD, we just finished a 10 week AI course through the Vjal Institute via YPO. It was transformative course and will forever change the way that I operate. The agents and systems we have built are now apart of our day to day. Carly, my CMO agent, is referenced in meetings, prompts are more exact and detailed (trying to get to the 800 words) and we have learned what can happen with little information or a lot of information. I am working to make manual tasks more simple so I can focus on bigger items. AI can seem daunting and we often asked ourselves where to do we start? Just start ... everyone can benefit from it. Which LLM are you using? What has been most impactful?

Blair Peterson reacted on thisBlair Peterson reacted on thisI have never spoken publicly about being raped in college. About how that was how I lost my virginity. But reading about the situation at Cornell, I keep thinking about the young woman at the center of it, and I think it is time. After I was raped, I spiraled into self-harm and eating disorders. There are whole years of college I still cannot remember. Sometimes I wonder whether that is for the best. It is a strange thing to look back at your own life and find so much of it missing. We talk so often about the perpetrators. We are furious, and rightfully so. There must be accountability. There must be justice. And alongside that anger, we need to think about the person who has to keep living after what was done to her. What waking up every single morning feels like. What it means to live in a body that suddenly feels unfamiliar, to try to feel safe inside it again. What trying to fall asleep every single night feels like. There is so much of the aftermath that happens quietly, in the ordinary hours when everyone else is going about their lives. My father read me The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe every night until I finally could fell asleep in the aftermath of that night in college. Month after month. I will love him forever if only for this. For the tenderness of it. For that childlike love and care he offered me when I needed it. His voice, a familiar story, his presence. Night after night. I think about that care when I think about what we owe one another. The willingness to sit beside someone. To read the book. To keep showing up without asking when they will be better. We must love one another. We must give, and give, and give. We must support those who have been victimized for years and years to come. Care cannot depend on how recently something happened, or how much attention it is receiving. All these years later, I still cannot watch movies with scenes of violence against women. And there are far too many of them. I am still learning what I can bear, what I need, what makes me feel safe. Healing, for me, has been the work of a lifetime. Peace, safety, and strength to the young woman at the center of this case. To everyone who has been victimized. To the countless women like me who have carried this quietly, who have never spoken about it, who may be reading this with a story of their own. There is healing. There is life ahead. And we have stories to tell, when and if we choose. Until then, we deserve care just the same. (Thank you also to Anne Laure Sellier who I recently shared this with during a four hour dinner in Paris…opening up the door for me to share with whoever reads. Freedom comes from sharing the burden, lightening the load, until one is finally free from it.)

We partnered with the incredible Kimberly Preis of Kim Preis Style to create Yes, You Can Pull That Off, a workshop that brings together two things we care about deeply. LevelUp Coaching and Training has spent years helping people build identity and confidence in the professional world. Kim has spent her career helping people find their personal and professional style. Put those together, and magic happens. We've taken this interactive workshop inside companies like Salesforce, McDonalds, and Paylocity, and the response has been amazing. People walked out standing taller, dressing bolder, and owning who they are. So we asked ourselves: why keep this corporate-only? Were opening the doors to our network, and trust us, this will be the best girls night out youve had in a long time. 🥂 Think drinks. Bites. Confidence. Style. Good people. And a TON of fun. This is your sign to stop saying I could never pull that off and start finding out just how much you can. 🎟️ Grab your tickets before they sell out: https://lnkd.in/g6C5RxAN 💼 Want to bring your coworkers? If your company would sponsor you and a group, send me a DM for a corporate discount code. Whos coming with me? Blair Peterson reacted on thisBlair Peterson reacted on thisIndigo just passed $20 million in premium. That's double what it was when we announced our Series B in January. The number that matters more: 40% of submissions now get an underwriting decision with no human touch, twice the rate of a year ago. • Median quote turnaround is under one business day • We're on pace for 10,000+ submissions this year • We are focused on profitable growth - loss ratios matter! Why this is possible: • Horizontal AI is a thin layer across many products. It automates some tasks, but still requires many manual, duplicative processes to finish the job • Vertical AI goes through the whole product stack: intake, underwriting, pricing, policy admin. That's what makes straight-through processing possible, and it lets a very small team handle thousands of submissions We bet on vertical. These numbers are that bet paying off. But none of this is possible without the best team in the industry! https://lnkd.in/ewSQQZQAIndigo Surpasses $20 Million in Premiums and Increases Autonomous Underwriting to 40% of Submissions as AI-Driven Medical Malpractice Platform ScalesIndigo Surpasses $20 Million in Premiums and Increases Autonomous Underwriting to 40% of Submissions as AI-Driven Medical Malpractice Platform Scales

Every result behind it started with a brand trusting our team with its customers and its growth. It also belongs to the IM Digital team. Thank you to Klaviyo for the partnership, and to PostPilot for the great night at the Red Sox game.

Your premium fabric means nothing if your hardware fails. The apparel industry focuses the majority of its development budget on fabric weight and silhouette, while treating hardware as a financial afterthought. Brands will spend months engineering a highly durable technical fabric, only to approve a generic €0.20 zipper to save margin on the Bill of Materials. The operational reality is absolute: a garment's lifecycle is dictated entirely by its weakest point of failure. A failed zipper renders a €200 jacket unwearable. A snapped low-grade button sends a structurally perfect shirt to the landfill. Brands are actively sabotaging their primary asset by integrating sub-standard secondary components. This extends to the current trend of "sustainable" trims. Recycled zippers and biodegradable hardware frequently fail baseline mechanical stress tests. If an eco-friendly trim breaks on the fifth wash, you have not created a sustainable garment; you have manufactured a premature defect. At Clothly, we enforce the rule that hardware must match or exceed the durability of the primary fabric. Exact pull-tension, cycle limits, and corrosion resistance must be explicitly mandated in the Tech Pack. Stop compromising your engineering with cheap components. Do you test your hardware to the exact same standard as your fabric? #apparelmanufacturing #supplychain #techpack #sustainability #fashionbusiness #clothly

Kohl's didn’t just expand SEPHORA. They upgraded the operating system inside the building. Kohl’s is rolling Sephora into more stores because beauty is performing. Traffic is younger. Baskets are stronger. Margins are healthier. That’s the headline. The more interesting story sits under the floorboards… Sephora doesn’t just bring product. They bring Beauty Insider. Clienteling tools. SKU-level behavioral data. Associate tablets. Shade-matching history. Replenishment cycles. That is a very different operating system than traditional department store merchandising. So now you’ve got a shared box with layered infrastructure: 🧾 Two loyalty ecosystems. 📈 Two data environments. 🏬 One physical checkout moment. The real question isn’t whether beauty works… It’s who owns the customer graph when the transaction clears. Because once you can reconcile loyalty ID, media exposure, SKU-level inventory and margin, you’re not just running a shop-in-shop. You’re running a closed-loop retail media engine inside a legacy store. Tom Kingsbury has been clear about profitable growth at Kohl’s. Beauty supports that because the margin structure can absorb personalization tech and in-store media in a way denim never could. The visible win is makeup. The structural win is interoperable data. Department stores don’t need prettier fixtures… They need better data architecture. That’s what this partnership is really testing.

Add Designer Brands Inc. to the list of footwear and fashion firms conducting layoffs in early 2026. The DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse parent did a round of layoffs at the end of January, although it wasn’t immediately clear how many employees were impacted. Sources indicated that the layoffs were conducted across operations and brands. “As we continue the progress we’ve made in advancing our strategies, last week we took actions to simplify our organizational structure, reduce complexity, and improve speed and accountability,” a Designer Brands spokeswoman told Footwear News. “These changes strengthen our ability to execute, manage costs, and create long-term value for our customers, our teams and our business.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/ezhGwu4f

My colleague Bryan Eshelman recently spoke with NPR on the challenges in the sneaker market these days. As consumers pull back spending, clearly differentiated products and services become a retailer’s lifeline. If your competitive moat isn’t aligned with customer expectations, it may be time to re-think your approach for the future.

🔍 This is a must-read for anyone who cares about the future of physical retail—especially independents. Peter, you articulate something many retailers are feeling but struggle to name: retail isn’t disappearing, but the middle is. Relevance today isn’t inherited, it’s earned through clarity, discipline, and intentional execution. 📊 From working closely with independent jewelers and analyzing aggregated sell-through data, the “middle lane” you describe is very real and increasingly unforgiving. Confused positioning quietly erodes margin, trust, and longevity. 🧠 Your focus on the human, sensory, and psychological advantages of physical retail is exactly right. Those advantages still exist but only for retailers willing to choose a lane and execute with conviction. ⚠️ The uncomfortable question every retailer should be asking isn’t “Will physical retail survive?” but “Have we earned our place in it?” 👏 Thank you for continuing to elevate the conversation in our industry. #PhysicalRetail #RetailStrategy #JewelryIndustry #IndependentRetail #RetailLeadership #CustomerExperience #FutureOfRetail
