Bret Cade liked thisBret Cade liked thisOctober is National Women's Small Business Month and it has me thinking about what it took to get ReEmployAbility off the ground in 2003. Back then, in a small office with a folding table for a desk, there was no large team, no corporate headquarters, and certainly no roadmap for what ReEmployAbility would one day become. There was an idea, a lot of determination, and the belief that if we could solve a real problem for people, we could build something around it. I don't remember having some grand moment when I thought, “We've made it.” It was much quieter than that. I do remember Bob O'Halloran with Summit taking a chance on me as our first client and a client that remains with us today. And I remember the first time I did not pray for checks in the mail so that we could meet payroll. That was probably the first time I thought, “Okay. Maybe this really can work.” What I remember most isn't the business plan. It's the women who showed me it could be done. Today I get to watch so many women here in Tampa Bay build something from nothing. They juggle a business, a family, and whatever else life hands them, and they still show up for their communities. I marvel at how strong they are. A few I want to recognize this month: Heather Sanderson, Esq., MSPA, Founder & CEO, Sanderson Firm PLLC. Heather leads with more than expertise. She uses her knowledge to educate others, create opportunities, and leave our industry stronger than she found it. Bridgette Bello CEO & Founder, The Executive Collective. Bridgette's ability to transform her own reinvention into a trusted community for other women is truly inspiring. Through connection, clarity, and candid conversations, she helps women navigate what's next with confidence. In a short time, she has reminded me of the power of women supporting one another with honesty, vulnerability, and encouragement. Sonya Ranker, CFP® CDFA®, President & Founder, Questmont Virtual Family Office. One of the things I appreciate most about Sonya is her holistic perspective. She understands that financial decisions are deeply connected to our goals, relationships, and legacy, and her insights have already influenced how I think, both personally and professionally.
