Christopher C. King reposted thisChristopher C. King reposted thisDC TECH ECOSYSTEM FUND LAUNCH: Exciting new program, launched by Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, to drive startup ecosystem and venture building efforts across the city. You do not need to be already based in DC to apply but must commit to building an entrepreneurial program within the city. https://lnkd.in/e2XirZtp At a time where federal funds are on the decline and DC is pushing hard to diversify its economy, this program can be a catalyst for the reimaginiation of the city's economy. Think of it as a mini version of a U.S. Economic Development Administration Hubs program crossed with a startup accelerator selection process. $2 M in funding in year 1 with potential to grow. Deadline to submit full application is May 29 with a light touch submission of interest before then. Specific focus on: 🚀 Defense and national security technologies 💉 Healthcare (life sciences and medical technology) 🖥️ Deep tech verticals (quantum, advanced computing, artificial intelligence, space/aeronautics) 💰 Financial technology and technologies in other federally regulated markets I have enjoyed playing a small role, in partnership with many others, to bring this to life. #dctech #techecosystem Adam Lattimore, MPA Brennan Hicks

Christopher C. King shared this#NowThis One of the coolest things about writing stories down is (several) years later someone appreciates it. #Grateful to those who shared their founder journeys.Christopher C. King shared thisYou know a lot of things in the world are about knowing the information 📚. Now the information may not always be available to you for a variety of reasons 🌐. There’s a lot of ornate auroras ✨ that swirl around the realm of venture capitalism and entrepreneurship 🚀. It all looks shiny on the outside and perhaps exclusive 🏛️. It doesn’t have to be 💡. Which is what I love about the book, Startup Stories – Founder Experiences Building Tech Companies for All While Elevating Diverse Communities, by Christopher C. King 📖. He takes us through a series of case studies based on a variety of startups 🧩 and breaks down the entrepreneurial path for each of them into easily understandable learning gems 💎. Clean and straightforward information that will stimulate your views on how startups can traverse the business landscape 🧭. What startup stories have shaped your thinking? #Entrepreneurship #Startups #VentureCapital #FounderStories #TechEcosystem

Christopher C. King shared thisWelcome James M. to the next chapter of Theo Advisors!! Truly exciting to have such deep alignment with another investor, advisor, and community leader. #NowThisChristopher C. King shared thisNew chapter. Same mission. Bigger arena. This past week I stepped into two new roles: • Venture Partner w/ Erez Capital • Head of Platforms w/ Theo Advisors Both within the venture capital and private equity ecosystem. I’m grateful for the trust but more importantly, I’m clear on why I’m here. These roles sit at the intersection of capital, platforms, and execution. They’re about helping ideas become institutionally ready, helping companies scale without breaking, and helping capital do what it’s supposed to do: amplify structure, not chaos. What hasn’t changed is my commitment to the community focused initiatives we are developing at Garden State Community Collective. GSCC remains the proving ground. The mission doesn’t pause. The responsibility doesn’t shift. If anything, these new roles sharpen it. Everything I do, whether inside venture, private equity, or platform strategy, is informed by what it actually takes to build in the real world: with communities involved, with public accountability, with long time horizons, and with outcomes that matter beyond a term sheet. I don’t see these roles as titles. I see them as vantage points. Vantage points to: • see where companies break under growth • understand how platforms succeed or fail post-capital • bring that insight back into the work that’s already underway. I am focused on and grateful for these opportunities individually & collectively. In time, we will build something transformative, together.

Funding has been challenging for many organizations addressing critical needs and Urban Ed is no exception. The organization needs urgent bridge support to keep its workforce programs running and protect the tech career & education pathways that hundreds of students and families are depending on right now. Christopher C. King reposted thisChristopher C. King reposted thisLooking forward to attending the CREW 2026 Kickoff Summit in Atlanta. For me, events like CREW are about more than panels and programming- they’re about people. Building meaningful relationships, reconnecting with familiar faces, and meeting new leaders who are shaping the future across various industries. Community has always been at the center of how I work- whether through venture investing, corporate roles, or ecosystem building. The strongest opportunities often emerge from authentic conversations and shared vision. If you’re attending, I’d love to connect - whether it’s a quick coffee, a hallway conversation, or a more intentional discussion around collaboration and partnership. Let’s build bridges, strengthen networks, and continue growing this community together. See you in Atlanta. #CREW2026 #CREWSummit #CREWNetwork #BuildingCommunity #StrongerTogether #MeaningfulConnections

Christopher C. King shared thisTrue!!Christopher C. King shared thisToday is another Snow day ... As kids (including mine) are excited about school closure, for some others its more than just missed class time. It’s about continuity of care. 3 weeks ago, as a contributor, I appreciated the opportunity to share my perspective on ABC 7 News WJLA-TV about the impact of snow days on students’ access to mental health services. When schools close, learning may pause - but for many students, so does access to critical mental health support. School‑based counseling and behavioral health services are often the most consistent - and sometimes the only - mental health care students receive. Snow days can unintentionally disrupt that lifeline. For students already navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or significant stress, even short interruptions can matter. And for families with limited access to community‑based mental health services, school closures can widen existing gaps - especially during winter months when stressors often increase. My takeaway is simple but important: As we plan for weather disruptions, we must also plan for mental health continuity. That means strengthening school‑based mental health models, expanding virtual and hybrid support options, and ensuring students don’t lose access to care when buildings close. At Healthlincs we work hard to ensure that Mental health support is not weather‑dependent - through our Virtual Therapy & Counseling Options. Grateful to ABC 7 for elevating this conversation and helping shine a light on the real‑world impacts policy and planning decisions have on students and families. ---- #StudentMentalHealth #SchoolBasedCare #Healthlincs 🎬 Watch full clip here: https://ow.ly/SGMQ50YkwJq

Christopher C. King reposted thisChristopher C. King reposted this7,000 users in three months. Built by four UMD students. Started in a classroom. Adam Pouliot '27 spent his freshman year frustrated by the College Park apartment search — too many options, volatile prices, no central place to compare real information. So he built one. Kato Housing aggregates real-time pricing, floor plans, amenities, and price histories for 17 local complexes. No forms to fill out. No sales calls. Just what students need to make a real decision. Adam and his teammates — Williama Carver, Philana Hin, and Nidhin Gangisetty — started this in the Smith School's Entrepreneurship & New Ventures course last fall. But the classroom was just the beginning. They brought the venture to DLCE, competing in our inaugural standalone Luby Idea Track competition in the fall and winning $3,000 for Best in Customer Discovery. They launched in November. They just landed a feature in Maryland Today. And this spring, they're back — competing in the Quattrone Tech Track at Pitch Dingman. This is what DLCE is built for: a place where a classroom idea doesn't have to stop when the semester ends. Students get mentorship, programming, and competitive opportunities to keep building — on their own terms, at their own pace.
