Daniel Hullah liked thisDaniel Hullah liked thisStill sinking in. AnnaBay Club Amber, made on the St. Anna Bay in Curaçao, is one of five finalists for Best Aged Rum at the 2026 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It's up against a Réunion rum aged in ex-Cognac casks, a Queensland rum built on dunder, a blend assembled in Kentucky, and a rum made on Islay in ex-peated whisky barrels. Five countries, five completely different ways of making aged rum. Only Double Gold winners are eligible for the finalist round, all judged blind: no label, no country, no story attached. Just what's in the glass. Ours is the only rum from Curaçao among this year's SFWSC rum finalists. The winner is announced at Top Shelf in San Francisco in November. I'll be there for it all. Last month we opened our doors in Punda to celebrate the Double Golds with people from across the island: friends, partners, and plenty who had never tasted our rum before. Alongside our award-winning Curaçao Originals, I brought cask samples from our limited edition programme, drawn the day before so we could all taste them together. Nice to have something exciting to look forward to.

Daniel Hullah reacted on thisDaniel Hullah reacted on thisI'm thrilled to share that LineVision has closed its Series D financing round, co-led by Centaurus Capital and New System Ventures, with continued support from National Grid Partners. The fastest, cheapest megawatts are the ones we’ve already built, and the next ones need to go exactly where they’re needed most. Better information unlocks both. Optimizing the existing grid, and the investment needed to upgrade it, is one of the most consequential challenges in front of us. Our platform is positioned to transform how transmission systems are operated and planned, and the capabilities we’ve built to do so are second to none. We have a tremendous opportunity to leverage our leading market position, commercial creativity, and access to capital to help utilities across the US, UK, and beyond unlock the cascading benefits of speed to power and lower cost of power for the global economy. As we look to accelerate growth, both organically and inorganically, and we are thrilled to have the support of capital partners with deep experience in the energy space to lead through it. Thanks to John Arnold, Keith Holst, Ian Samuels, the incredible team at National Grid Partners Stephen Smith, Pradeep Tagare, Kristian Bodek, Brett Chandler, Luke W., and many others for the trust and faith in our ability to lead this industry to the next level. Thanks most of all to our best-in-class team, and to our long list of customers: the opportunity we have ahead of us wouldn’t be possible without the incredible foundation you’ve all worked tirelessly to build together. I’m excited to partner on going faster and further in helping business and communities realize the cascading value we can deliver together. Let’s go!

Daniel Hullah liked thisDaniel Hullah liked thisI’m excited to share that I am heading to Stanford University Graduate School of Business this fall. The past several years have given me the opportunity to work with an extraordinary group of people tackling some of the biggest challenges in climate and sustainability, from mobilizing billions of dollars for new technologies and large-scale projects to helping create communities that bring together the people working to accelerate the climate transition to serving as Co-Chair of The Aspen Institute's premier climate conference. Along the way, I’ve learned a tremendous amount about what it takes to turn ambitious ideas into real-world impact, and how much more there is for me to learn. I’m grateful to mentors, colleagues, friends, and collaborators who have taught me, challenged me, and opened doors for me over the past several years, especially to everyone at CREO, Nephila Capital, The Aspen Institute, Builders Vision, and Chicago Climate Corps (C3), who have been part of that journey. I’m heading to Stanford excited to broaden my perspective, explore new ideas, and learn from classmates and faculty whose experiences are different from mine. I’m particularly interested in continuing to think about how innovative finance, entrepreneurship, policy, and technology can work together to address large-scale challenges, while also exploring some new directions.

Daniel Hullah reacted on thisDaniel Hullah reacted on thisAlmost two months ago, I lost more than a CFO. I lost a friend. WC was only 33 years old. His passing came at what is arguably one of the most important moments in Mober’s journey, just as we were preparing for a major due diligence process and the next phase of growth. In the weeks that followed, many people reached out with messages of support. I appreciated every one of them. But difficult times have a way of teaching you an important lesson: support is not measured by words, but by actions. The people who truly made a difference were those who stepped up, took ownership, carried extra responsibilities, solved problems, and helped the team move forward when it mattered most. Almost two months later, we continue to move forward. Not because we have forgotten, but because we owe it to WC and the mission that we started together. The journey continues. The team remains strong. And every day, we work to build on the foundation that he helped create. We miss you, my friend.

Year-end energy markets sent a clear signal for Midwest industrials. Natural gas eased as December warmth capped winter premiums, but power markets — especially in PJM — remain driven by capacity constraints, not fuel alone. As we head into 2026, disciplined, layered energy strategies continue to outperform reactive buying. Volatility hasn’t disappeared — it’s shifted. #EnergyMarkets #IndustrialEnergy #PJM #MidwestManufacturing #EnergyStrategy #PowerMarkets #RiskManagement

A recent The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Summer Study paper from Berkeley Lab looks at how aggregated demand flexibility can help address localized distribution constraints, and found that location plays a big role in how helpful those resources are. It sounds obvious, but megawatts on a spreadsheet don’t help if they’re not available where the constraint exists. Utilities need distributed resources they can plan around and connect to real grid needs. Distributed Capacity Procurement is working to fill that gap. Read the ACEEE paper: https://lnkd.in/gczDe23z

Just had a great intro call with Rich and Edgar Puga y Vidals. These two are the real deal. MIT-educated brothers who co-founded Apis Energy Technologies in 2023 to tackle residential electricity costs and emissions. What struck me most wasn't the tech — it was the energy. Positive. Curious. Grounded in real-world execution, not just theory. They're building at the intersection of power hardware, AI, and energy market strategy. Not a lab experiment. Deployable, revenue-generating solutions for households. Edgar runs operations, financial strategy, and the messy work of actually getting technology into real markets. Rich drives the vision. Together they've got the rare combination: technical depth and commercial pragmatism. The game they're playing: lower end-user costs while aligning with decarbonization policy. Economic value and climate value. Not either/or. I love meeting founders who bring curiosity to every conversation. Who ask good questions. Who are clearly in it for the long haul. Rich and Edgar have that. Excited to see where Apis Energy goes — and looking forward to finding ways to be helpful.

Excellent discussion with Congressman Mike Levin and Kyle (Jones) Baker at the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) Institute annual conference in #Washington. Our focus: how to engage voters and consumers in the clean-energy story. We can’t just build better technology. We must build belief. The clean-energy transition is not just about capital and business building - it’s also a narrative project. Winning commercially now means competing just as hard for cultural and political power as we do for market share. The future of green power depends on it. #SEEC #GreenPower #energytransition

So PJM capacity prices hit the price cap again, which was a surprise to no one who has been observing the market. As we've written about extensively, the only solution to the cost problem while also getting new supply online is to channel revenues to new entry without providing revenues to the rest of the supply stack. A few notes: * To those talking about extending the price caps: you fundamentally cannot implement a price cap below the cost of new entry and then ask why new entry isn't coming into the market * To those listening to what the IPP and generation associations are saying: they have a clear incentive to keep capacity prices high, so you need to read their comments through that lens. * To those assessing the future revenue potential of generation assets in PJM: you need to be aware that it is politically untenable for prices to rise to the cost of new entry and stay there. * To those blaming datacenters: load growth was coming and this was going to happen no matter what...datacenters just accelerated the underlying reality. Even with sufficient new supply to meet demand, capacity prices STILL have to rise to the level needed to support the new supply. SUMMARIZING: high capacity prices are both necessary to incentivize new generation and unavoidable in an era of load growth. And it is politically unpalatable to allow prices to stay high, but economically impossible for them to stay low. The only solution is to provide direct financial support to new entry outside of the capacity market. https://lnkd.in/gXKXe4Ck
