Frontier has made great progress in progressing their AI driven Covalent chemistry platform into the clinic in order to improve and extend the lives of patients living with cancer. I am particularly excited by their PI3K/RAS pathway breaker which is progressing toward IND and their dual (on/off) KRASG12C which is now in the clinic and has been shown to generate high response rates in first line failures. The company last week out licensed a Covalent p53 Y220C activator as well. Additional assets such as a G12D are coming along behind those. I’m humbled to begin this next chapter working with a talented team advancing transformative gene therapies for patients with serious diseases such as Sickle Cell. In many ways, this opportunity brings my career full circle. I began my career in hematology and bone marrow transplant, and the promise of gene therapy to change the course of disease for patients in need is incredibly meaningful. I’m also grateful for my time at Viridian Therapeutics and for the opportunity to work alongside such a dedicated team. Over the past week, the KC BioHub page has started sharing information about a few members of the massive cluster of bioservices businesses (CROs, CDMOs, Regulatory Affairs and Reg CMC firms) that are located in the KC region. After the passage of the BioSecure Act provisions in the previous NDAA, and more conversations about the bioeconomy happening every day in Washington, it's time to start paying attention to where the action is, domestically. Biotechs are starting to consider not just how reliably, how fast, or how expertly bioservices firms do their work. They're starting to care WHERE they are, too. If you're looking for full-spectrum capability in a domestic market that is full of established, expert partners, Kansas City needs to be on your short list for site visits.
