Deirdre Bosa shared thisI spent my career covering other people’s companies, and Nasdaq was always where the biggest moments happened. So it’s pretty surreal to see my own up there now. A few months ago, I decided to go out on my own with a pretty simple bet: AI needs a daily live business show of its own. I knew the story was big but I didn’t quite appreciate how quickly the appetite would build around a new way of covering it, or how many people would want to help make it happen. Thank you Nasdaq. The studio is under construction and the daily show goes live in a few weeks.

Deirdre Bosa shared thisMicrosoft's Satya Nadella on the new levels of AI safety: 1. Misuse: bad actors using AI 2. Containment: AI agents escaping the boundaries labs or companies set for them — the new insider risk 3. Alignment: even if the AI stays inside the rules, will it keep doing what humans actually intended? “Let’s face it, for the first time… with these powerful AI agents, you kind of have an insider risk.” “We don’t yet have the science for really thinking about real alignment.” The second category is becoming especially important as agents get access to internal systems, credentials, data and workflows. A very different operating model for enterprise security.

Deirdre Bosa shared thisThe first DB Live interview is.... live. I sat down with Satya Nadella at Microsoft this week around the launch of the new Copilot. The takeaway: Microsoft is betting that the next phase of AI is a product race, not a model race. Copilot can choose among models underneath while Microsoft tries to remain the layer enterprises use to actually get work done. The potential secret weapon is Autopilot (what I’ve been calling Muse for Business). It knows your workflows, sits across the apps and data you already use, and keeps working even when you step away. It’s a preview of the battle to come in enterprise AI. OpenAI and Anthropic are racing from models into products. Can they build their own version of this? And can they match Microsoft on the boring-but-critical stuff: permissions, identity, auditability and control, as agents become more autonomous? We also talk open vs. closed models, US-China Summit, regulation and the infrastructure buildout. Deirdre Bosa shared thisMy brilliant brother Darcy Morris on why public markets should be part of Canada’s investment push: give ordinary Canadians a chance to own Canadian companies alongside big investors, and share in the upside. "Thriving public markets are the foundations of a prosperous economy" Co-sign. Topics included opensource/openweights models, AI's secular shift, Dwarkesh Patel's blog on compute costs, debating GPU lifespans, agent safety and security and so much more. Always a pleasure chatting with you, Dee. Thanks for having me on the show.

Deirdre Bosa shared thisAI is no longer a segment. It needs a daily live show. So at the end of this month, I’m leaving CNBC to build one with Jasmine W.. 15 years at CNBC is hard to sum up. Singapore, London, San Francisco. Four kids. A lot of big stories and very, very early mornings. I recently found the email I sent in 2012 when I was trying to get hired in Singapore. I’d quoted some advice: when you’re making a big decision, choose based on who you’ll work with—not the money, title or position. That turned out to be exactly right. The people are what I’ll miss most. I’m grateful for all of it. And I guess this is what a decade surrounded by builders in SF does to you. More soon. dbosa@dbosalive.com jwu@dbosalive.com

Deirdre Bosa reposted thisDeirdre Bosa reposted thisI'm proud to share that Glean has surpassed $300M ARR, just five months after crossing $200M and growing ~3x over the past 15 months. This is an exciting milestone for Glean, and it's a signal about where the enterprise AI market is heading. We’ve long believed the real challenge in enterprise AI is not access to models. It is grounding AI in how a company actually works: its people, knowledge, workflows, permissions, and systems. That’s even clearer now. The companies creating real value with AI are not just adopting better models. They are building systems that understand their business well enough to deliver reliable outcomes at scale. That is the real moat, and it is what we’ve been building at Glean: an unrivaled context layer for enterprise AI. That context has to work across the business, not just inside a single team or use case. We see that in how customers adopt Glean: more than 85% use it across five or more job functions. It also has to meet the security and governance demands of complex enterprises. We see that in who is choosing Glean: our Fortune 500 customer count nearly doubled year over year, including eBay, Dell Technologies, Booking.com, WD, Dominion Energy, Nationwide, and Zillow. And it has to make economic sense as usage grows. In our recent benchmark with Claude Cowork, Glean was preferred roughly 2.5x as often as off-the-shelf MCP tools and used 30% fewer tokens on average. Better context improves both quality and efficiency. I enjoyed talking with CNBC's Deirdre Bosa about this broader shift. In enterprise AI, the winners will not be defined by better models alone. They will be defined by who builds the strongest foundation for enterprise context. Thank you to our customers, partners, and team for helping us build the future of enterprise AI. We're bringing together the enterprise AI community at Glean:GO. Hope to see you there. https://lnkd.in/gK4d_qQF

Deirdre Bosa shared thisThe AI bill is coming due. Companies spent the last year giving employees access to frontier models and worrying about ROI later. But now the cost gap is getting hard to ignore. For the same benchmark workload, Artificial Analysis found: Claude: $4,811 ChatGPT: $3,357 DeepSeek: $1,071 Kimi: $948 Zhipu GLM: $544 Claude is nearly 9x the cheapest Chinese alternative. Key question for OpenAI and Anthropic before their eventual IPOs: If good-enough AI keeps getting cheaper, how much premium pricing power do frontier labs really have? Deirdre Bosa liked thisDeirdre Bosa liked thisLOTS of news out of OpenAI’s Dev Day this week ☀️ Sat down with CEO Sam Altman in a wide-ranging CNBC interview ahead of the keynote where the AI giant unveiled new products, including an “always-on” AI agent, Dots. It’s the push beyond chatbots towards AI that can proactively do work across apps and devices. AI safety is also central in any tech CEO conversation right now. Asked Altman about his decision to hold back a model that didn’t pass the safety bar, liability, AI policy, CEO reputations and IPO timeline. ALSO chatted with OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar (in a very windy live-shot!).. debriefed on Dots, competition, what it means for the business, the rate environment and IPO window. Deirdre Bosa liked thisDeirdre Bosa liked thisAhem. Is this thing on? 🎤 I’m proud to announce that I am now a… LinkedIn Top Voice. After years as a mid-voice (maybe a low voice?) I’ve finally made it to the top! I’d like to thank my mom for remembering her LinkedIn password and all of you for LinkedIn-ing with me. But seriously, I’m thrilled. Expect even more tech news, videos and reporting from our growing New Things media empire. My approach here is the same as my approach to covering tech: Skip the jargon, focus on what people actually want to know and have fun. Because tech is fun. Sometimes. When it’s not trying to kill us. The best posts start a conversation. Your questions help me figure out what to test, explain and report on next—and make the reporting better. Keep them coming!

The layoffs at McClatchy this week were truly incomprehensible in many ways, but one thing that sticks out in particular is that the cuts affected 90 audience-forward, innovative and impactful journalists who know how to evolve and transform as audiences, traffic and mediums change. Some of my dearest longtime colleagues lost their jobs at large, well-respected newsrooms. It’s heartbreaking, and we should all be doing what we can to lift them up in this time, however that is possible for you. But what shouldn’t get lost is how these cuts are a gut punch and huge loss for the smaller newsrooms and the communities they serve. My hometown newsroom Sun Herald where I began my career and worked in some form or fashion for more than a decade, lost their visual journalist and will no longer be able to replace a breaking news reporter, an accountability reporter and a business/tourism/food reporter. These three jobs are KEY to audience impact — and revenue. There are now just two hard-working, kickass reporters left covering the Gulf Coast, one of the fastest growing regions in the country. The Sun Herald has always punched above its weight class. The newsroom adopted new beats and structured quickly, was one of the first in McClatchy to embrace video in every form, and was a driver of page views and subscriber conversions for the company. We worked hard, said goodbye to colleagues, and produced journalism our audiences wanted and needed from us - stories they’d never find anywhere else. When I left 3 years ago, eight journalists were doing the jobs of about 20 people. Now, two good friends are still there doing what they can to serve their community. I still am at a loss, but will also do what I can to support them. Check on your newsroom friends this week. Send a Venmo, donate to a GoFundMe, make a hiring manager connection, or just send good vibes. 🧡🧡🧡
