Dennis Randolph shared thisDennis Randolph shared thisThis week, on April 2, we will be celebrating our 59th company anniversary! And what better way to celebrate than to tell all our friends about an amazing children’s book about my mom Frieda? Okay, so maybe I am a little prejudiced, but when a well-published children’s book author contacted me three years ago and said she planned to write a book about my mom, Frieda Rapoport Caplan, I was so excited! I’ve always found kids are fascinated (and grateful) when they learn that my mom is credited with introducing kiwifruit to America in 1962. Honestly, who can imagine a world before kiwifruit? Read more to learn how it all happened . . .

Manna Beverages’ West Sacramento and Anaheim production facilities have been listed for online auction a week after the company shuttered operations and terminated its on-site staff. 🏭🔨 Both California plants are being offered through an online sale as part of a rapid move to liquidate physical assets following the abrupt shutdown. The listings underscore consolidation pressures in beverage manufacturing and could attract contract manufacturers or brands seeking production capacity in the region. 🥤 https://lnkd.in/gQhsS_bW #BeverageIndustry #FoodAndBeverage #Manufacturing #AssetSale #BeverageManufacturing #California

Dog Friendly Las Vegas
Henderson Puppy Store Shut Down Ahead of Las Vegas Vote on Retail Animal Sales The City of Henderson has issued a stop-work order against The Puppy Store following multiple permit violations — halting all live animal sales. The move arrives just before the Las Vegas City Council’s November 5 vote that could ban retail sales of dogs and cats citywide. Animal welfare advocates call it a pivotal step toward reforming the region’s pet industry, while critics warn of economic ripple effects for small businesses. California Farm Bureau
California farmers who grow fruit for canned products suffered a major setback this month as Del Monte Foods announced plans to close its only remaining cannery in the state. The cannery’s closure will reportedly affect roughly 600 employees and 1,200 seasonal workers in Modesto. The closure ends Del Monte’s more than 100-year history as a processor of California-grown fruits and vegetables, potentially leaving scores of farmers without a buyer for their produce. “It’s difficult,” said Ranjit Davit, who grows cling peaches in Sutter County and chairs the California Canning Peach Association’s board of directors. “Growers are very upset about the situation.” In recent years, Del Monte contracted about 35% of California’s cling peaches. Farmers who planted fruit orchards under long-term contracts with Del Monte said they were weighing their options and bracing for steep losses.
